You don't need to do anythings suspicious 99% is wrong places wrong times....

Believe me when they have solid doubt about someone they find what they are looking for.

I have never been bother by Canadian customs but have been treated like criminal by US customs, but in all honesty i don't care it is part of international trucking.

One time I was crossing into WA at Sumas, and they decided to inspect my load of mushrooms. After duck walking across the top of the entire load, the US CBP agents start crabbing at me about how they were going to ban "us" because "we" weren't loading the trailers with an aisle down the middle they could walk through... like they had told "us" previously. I have no idea who "us/we" was, and although I was very tempted to tell them that we don't load according to US CBP's preferences, I just let them vent a little and carried on.

Another time, going back into Canada at Whiterock, I missed the turn off I-5 to use 543 and Pacific crossing (commercial services) and ended up at Peace Arch (no commercial services). I stopped before going past the US CBP and went in and talked to them about turning around. "No problem" they said. "Just loop around on the access road on the north side of the building and you can head back south." Of course, that meant I had to drive through the NEXUS lane and suddenly lights flashed and bells rang and the had to do a full inspection... very, full inspection. It took near two hours, IIRC, and they were most apologetic, but said it was system-generated.

Then there was the time, on a personal trip, I used the NEXUS lane heading south at the Peace Arch to avoid 4-hour lineup. I managed to avoid a potential $25,000 fine and six months in jail by playing stupid (I'm real good at it ;) ). It was old-hat for my wife, but our business colleague ion th back seat had to change his underwear afterwards and for some reason he got a ride back to Vancouver with someone else.

I used to cross at Coutts, AB/Sweetgrass, MT weekly and I once had a CBSA agent (really hot Quebecoise), give me the gears for the way I did my paperwork. I did remind her that in the last year and-a-half she personally had cleared me no less than probably 50-60 times with the paperwork done exactly the same way. She just grumbled, stamped and let me go.

You win some... you lose some, but I'll admit, my experiences have been relatively painless.

I can certainly understand your position. I used to run up there many times a month. One time I crossed into Emerson on the way to Winnipeg. They had me go into the immigration. They took my drivers license, passport and then were gone for 15 minutes. Came back without my id and asked me to prove who I was. Little did they know, I had a TWIC card and ended the game. Later that trip came back to the US on US 59 to Minnesota. He asked why I was not coming back at the usual crossing points where I had come back to Portal ND. Told him it was way out of route.

The US guard asked me where I lived in NY. Told him I never said I lived there. He said you were born there, so where did you live. Told him the Hospital on the air base. He then stripped everything out of the truck. Searched and found nothing. I calmly put the truck back together blocking his port. Told him it would not move till it was secure. When finished I saluted him with a german salute saying Seig Heil.

I got tired of the games at the borders. Been almost 2 years since I went up there.

Glad you made it back OK! If that happened to me, I'm sure I'd feel just as you do.

I work with guys who have had their trucks ransacked to some degree. One was detained by US customs in Detroit for almost 8 hrs. They pulled everything out of the cab, side boxes, and tool box on the trailer. He kept asking what he did wrong and they wouldn't say. They finally tried to strip search him. He took off his shirt and said that it.
Makes me leery every time I cross.

That's the point where you tell them you're going to dump all over them if they do. And follow through.

The ONE time I left the States into Canada, this same thing happened to me.
    I've not returned.
My truck was torn upside down. The zippers busted on my bags, rugs kicked all over the place, trash can emptied...

I'm sure the Canadians get the same ill treatment at times coming south, but I won't accept it anymore. They shouldn't either.

I would not talk that way, there is a Canadian soldier that had the world's longest shot for a Sniper, it was at a 1.54 miles. It was beat just awhile ago by a Sniper from the UK by 150 Feet he used a 338 Lapua.

Trudeau 2.0? I don't want to get into politics but that guy's as big a waste of skin as his old man. In many ways he is exactly like this turtle on a post: 12.jpg
