I wonder how much effort they actually put into making their numbers line up. Would a well trained officer be able to tell you didn't drive 238 mph yesterday to make it between fuel stops and deliveries?
Well, it did not take long

If they are editing the file, then the delivery was 30 minutes from the fuel stop.... Just print out a good looking BOL with that address. Just because they are Russians, doesn't mean they are stupid!
Coffey, PE_T, WildTiger1990 and 4 others Thank this. -
Well, this is the problem with outsourcing anything that needs to be secure. It's the same problem with China. I'm surprised the geniuses that came up with it didn't implement a blockchain ledger.

If they are editing driving time and they get caught. They would just be off the list of approved ELD systems.

I still don’t get why the hell does it matter what they are wearing when we are discussing ELD’s and the issues.
Simple rule to follow. Any system can be manipulated and every rule can be bent. -
Unless there are only two or three ELD providers authorized by FMCSA, this will be out of control for ever.
Being a devil's advocate now:
On strictly moral grounds, I don't see why a guy with a White Volvo from Chicago may not have ways to cheat his logbooks while another guy with 1991 KW from West Memphis, AR may. After all, it is not about smuggling drugs or weapons but being able to go around HOS which are the acute pain in the arse. So best if everybody mind their own business.
On strictly business grounds, it is unfounded that the rates are affected by it, as if Elog cheating trucks take too many loads for themselves and leave nothing for those running strictly legal.
On strictly legal grounds, it is up to them to risk and face consequences of getting busted.Last edited: Dec 22, 2019

I like the idea of such cheat-enabled ELDs to rub the nose of people like American Trucking Associations, Mega Carriers and whoever else that advocated the mandate under the pretense of leveling the playing field which was a false pretense in itself. I also add to this category those masochistic individuals who are in love with driver's facing cameras and being chained up to their trucks 24/7, wishing for everybody else to be like them.
At the same time, using Keeptruckin, I hate the idea that they can poke around my ECM and GPS locations and gather all that data that's none of their business.TripleSix, Coffey, diesel drinker and 3 others Thank this.
