    They have over a million units in operation. It may be a matter of mass data storage cost. But yes, they store 6 months of logs, but much longer for miles (IFTA.) Also, as ZVar says, since the law requires no more than 6 months many companies want it to only store that.

    Luckily it takes 30 seconds for the company to save them to PDF format forever if they want. It's their choice. I also know many owner-ops who have a standing order with their carrier to email them every month all of their logs for their own personal records.
