TD, I agree completely about the lights. So far, from what I have read in other posts, the trainers at Crowder are very helpful. I am excited to get down there and get going. You are lucky that you have six months experience under your belt.

    truckerdaddy24 Thanks this.

If you have experience it's 4 days I believe.

Since I'm a student grad I have to do a week at crowder so my experience would be different than yours. :)

I am a student grad also. I graduated March 17th. Looking forward to getting there. Is the bus ride really that bad? Hope not, I am coming from Michigan. Anything you would like to share about your experience would be appreciated. How many people are in your orientation class? How much time is spent in a truck at Crowder? Have you learned anything you weren't taught in school? Thanks.

Good luck to everyone pursueing trucking with Con-way Truckload! So far, everything has been as advertised. Be prepared to use a 13-speed at boot camp.

How long have you been with them? Where is/was your orientation...Joplin? Is a 13 spd hard to get used to? What did you use at your school?

Xls is in class with me. Yes the bus ride sucked. I came from GA and it was 24 hours.

Monday is orientation, all paperwork, whiz quiz, dot physical, videos.

tuesday-sunday you are at crowder. We only have 3 people so our schedule is ahead of the norm.

the following Monday you are back in orientation to finalize your paperwork, get your id badge, basically get assigned your finisher.

Look for xlsdraw's thread. He has posted about what we've done each day.

    mitrucker and xlsdraw Thank this.

What do you mean by be prepared to use a 13 speed? I know they have them but this sounds a bit harsh!!. Thanks. TD24

I had a 13-speed in a Volvo I drove for a while. Nothing to it actually and I found it to be a pretty good transmission. You can go to youtube and see some in action if I remember correctly.

Concerning the 13 speed, the high range gears can be split. We're pulling an empty box so we've just been shifting it as a 9 speed. Which is just the standard H pattern unless you need to use low which is bottom left. Some folks only get trained on a 10 speed so it will be an adjustment for them. I was lucky. I got some time in on 9 speeds and a 13 speed at my school so I was familiar with it. Not trying to scare anyone just giving a heads-up.
