-
He'd probably have to put a bullet in his head rather than keep driving that Swedish Freightliner....:smt068

Hey I heard those ride nice thats why I said that. He'll get back in that pete and think he's riding in a tank...lol

I took a test drive in a new 780 when they first came out... part of their nationwide publicity tour.
I wanted to drive a truck with a two pedal Autoshift... never had done that. So me and the Volvo guy jump in this 780 and head on north on I-55 out of West Memphis. I drove about 15 miles, turned it around and took it back to the Petro where we began. Good highway test drive.
When we got back I had to fill out a questionnaire about my test drive... when asked about the 'handling' I described it 'like sitting on a pogo stick inside a bowl of Jello'... I darn near got seasick on the test drive. If I wanted to drive something that handles like a 1968 Winnebago I'd buy a 1968 Winnebago.
My hat is off to anyone who can drive one of those things... especially with an air ride front end.
I'm sorry to have to think there are actually thousands of newer drivers who think that all trucks drive like that... -
Personally I don't know its just what I've heard.

Nope, I haul potatoes to two different processing plants in North Dakota. Mostly the white varieties such as russets, Umatilas, Rangers, Shepodys etc. The get processed into french fries for MacDonalds, Wendies and Burger King. They also do hashbrowns, tatertots etc along with some potatoes products for the Gov and the schools.
During the winter I average a gross weight of 105,500+/- a few thousand LOL. During the summer months I have to stick around the 96,000 to 99,000 mark due to no permits during these times.
But the trailer is a 50 ft Trinity Eagle bridge with a canadian spread. It is setup with a heating system that hooks to the coolant lines on the tractor. This keep the potatoes from freezing in the -30 degree temps in the winter.Cetane+ Thanks this. -
I haul spuds, too but in insulated vans. i thought maybe you were one of those beet haulers than run up/down I-29.

Well what are they supposed to brag about? It can't be looks, resale value, reliability or build quality so they shoot for "good ride". It's like bragging about being the most civilized monkey at the zoo, at the end of the day your still a monkey.

t800kwopper and Les2 Thank this. -
They do ride good and turn on a dime. I drove 670's with spring front suspension. Theyre easy to back up too which is a plus for the swifts of the world. Always had weird check ecm lights coming on alll the time though. Never any ecm trouble just aggravating check lights for it a lot.
Back to the topic, your bossman might be open to a 6nz flash maybe. It'll pay for itself in fuel savings. Good luck with that though most bossmans would be tough to convince.
