That's a good point, that particular harness runs on 3.6 volts from MCM to outer valve cover harness. Won't even light up a tester headlamp with a 12v load.

Especially when you have to Ohm the internal harness under the valve cover in oil bath conditions first.

I'm not working on a big cam Cummins, or 3406, or Series 60 here.

FL doesn’t care because to them that truck was built as a throwaway and it is already at its built in life expectancy at 5 years old and half million miles.

That's a good point. Much like Cummins X15 and Paccar MX13 motors that come in all Peterbilt and Kenworth's' since 2020.

At least Detroit has a better parts and dealer network than that crap show that is Paccar.

Thanks, like I said, If I can't ohm it out with a Fluke, then its just time to change the harness.

When I changed the rear injectors I changed the rear harness. It's $125 for the rear injector harness, I torqued to 9lb ft like Detroit said on the injectors and rear Jake hookup.

It's not a broken wire, harness issue. It's a ####ty MIM(made in Mexico) or MII (Made in India) capacitor that is programmed to fail in my MCM at 500K miles. And it reads resistance on amplifier control valve #4,5,6. When it fails it shorts to ground through the body. I can clear the code, but that particular Cap or Resistor is programmed to fail about 500K miles.

Thats what all vehicle maunfacturer's do now. Thanks Daimler Chrysler (Mercedes).

I hope you can source the parts asap

    More good news

    OH NO, ANOTHER CHIP SHORTAGE!
Oh no, here we go again. The auto industry is about to get hit with another chip shortage. It’s all got to do with a Chinese company called Wingtech Technology that bought a Dutch chip maker called Nexperia. The Trump Administration warned the Netherlands that Nexperia could get blacklisted because its Chinese ownership posed national security problems for Europe. So the Dutch stepped in and took control of the company. For now, Nexperia is not making chips in the Netherlands and it has stopped exporting them from China. Here’s the problem. Nexperia makes about 40% of the transistors and diodes that go into automotive chips. And while automakers and suppliers are scrambling to find alternate sources, this has blown a big hole in their supply chains. European automakers are negotiating with the Chinese to at least export chips out of China, but it looks like this is going to start shutting down assembly lines before this month is over.

And all the work you did can be for nothing, because it gives you all kinds of false codes.
Mine was "Water in fuel" and it shut down the truck in the middle of the highway when under load. I had to tow the truck and the trailer to the dealer.

    KDHCryo Thanks this.

Change both of it’s already down and there… especially if you are planning on keeping this truck for a little while longer

They will likely troubleshoot even though you did a lot of it simply to cover themselves. They don’t want to just install something because you told them to and later have you come back because the issue is still there.
