Went and done it

The 386 is a Fitz with side skirts with a 13 speed and a Fitz motor he to is around 200k miles with no engine problems. He is way better then me short shifting and cruising around 60 and 62 all the time. Both of our mileage get hurt cause we high idle for about an hour to pump off on each load. But I have and APU never idle. The 386 never idles unless it over 90 for A/C he is way tougher then me. He has a sub zero sleeping bag for the cold.

I have not been lucky with my engines the Columbia had a Fitz engine at 90k I had the overhead done found four rocker arms with no buttons and hammered four valves stems down 1/4 inch. But Fitz sent us a new loaded head complete gasket set and paid 11 hours to my shop. I have had other issue but they have also been on top of it. My pete has a Clarke motor it blue a head gasket at 13k wiped out three cylinders and was a total rebuild and it was a pain in the rear cause Clarke refused (Fort Wayne, IN) to believe me that there was something wrong with motor until Fitz put the heat on them then I become there most important customer. The engine Clarke now has 60K and is doing great.

 

I think that's awesome man. I hope when I eventually get my new 389 it will last that long. I am very doubtful though...

 

My '99 W9 has almost 1.3 million on it, but I fully intend to take it as far as it will go. 2 million is a major accomplishment. A true testament to the quality of the truck, as well as the driver.

 

2 million on the original engine? If so that's awesome. When I spoke to a salesman the other day about a 389 he was telling me how theire in house engines are a little better than the Clark ones. He was saying something about having better flow and ceramic coated headers. Was hard to understand him he had a southern accent lol. Price was $138,400

is that color Bahama blue? I think fitz said mine was viper blue but I just talked to Pete about some touch up paint and a new seat, they said I have Bahama blue by DuPont according to my vin #

 

I hooked up scanner to see what speed was set at, looks like 83.

Talked to a paint shop with paint code and they say DuPont was the supplier to Peterbilt on the viper colors, Pete calls the truck color Viper blue and DuPont calls their paint Bahama blue pearl metallic, in the end it's the same exact color.
They said the viper colors are very clear and takes many many layers of the paint to get it to turn color.
