Safety nets? I thought those were hammocks! If you stick your legs and arms through them the ride is a lot smoother. Only thing missing is a margarita and a little buffet!
Went out with trainer, what an experience

And they wonder why I never wanted to be a trainer

Sorry you don't agree.
But it doesn't change the fact that all it takes is a little reading on THIS SITE to show anyone what is and is not the problem.
Trucking has always been kinda like the Marines.... lookin for GOOD drivers.
Unfortunately, the younger generation ain't measuring up to the task very often.
Not saying they ALL are bad eggs, just seems like a higher percentage of "DUDS" in the batch. -
I can spend just 30 min on this site and show PAGES of examples of what I am talking about.
Truckin ain't for everyone.
It's not a "job" as much as it is a lifestyle.
Like anything else that takes skill, some folks can do it well, and others are just not as apt at it.
You can KILL yourself and others with the little mistakes, and even more with big mistakes.
Why should anyone get "slack" ??
Why should anyone have the truth glossed over??
You are cut out for it, or you are not.
It might hurt "feelings" and step on toes, but a dangerous driver (or lousy one) is a threat to ALL on the roads.
Skip a shift, wrong gear, stall out......
Do that in the right place and you are DANGEROUS.
No.
I don't care if you like the information or not.
Truth is TRUTH, and nothing changes that fact.
If you cannot PERFORM the job consistently and flawlessly, then you should go sell womens shoes or something where you can't kill people with a "simple mistake".Everett and Roadrunnergal Thank this. -
10.4hrs before solo here...10 days is way more than enough with a trainer, it's not like you're going to run into all situations in that period of time anyway and if you're not 10.4hrs before solo here...10 days is way more than enough with a trainer, it's not like you're going to run into all situations in that period of time anyway and if you're not smart enough to think(or call someone) before you do something you're not sure of, then you shouldn't be on the road in the first place... -
LaBubba, Everett and formertaxidriver Thank this.

Hope he gets the hang of it!

Hi, now ive been truck for awhile and too say i can read the map pretty good, but lot's town's do not have there truck's route mark'ed out, i even look'ed here in des moines phone book for a map of truck routes non there , so i have too defend him a little bit there, also most town's have crazy snow plow driver's who like too twist the street sign's, so you dont what your on till you get out and try too figure it out and if like big city's they have 23 differnt south high streets, hopes for the best and pick the right one , so again i have too defend him a little ,most times when i get in town at night those little 2 x 4 green signs are hard too see, so i whip out handheld 1500 watt spotlight, caught a couple making out in the car that way, sorry wasnt spying just trying too find this place, but yes his trainer needed too sit down buy him coffee or whatever or you , and explain too him , mayby he had noboby do that for him, and yes i was a trainer for several companys , so best not crictize someboby , help them out ,mayby he was slow ,who knows , but sounded like he had the plan's but didnt know how too make it work, so they just trusht him into a truck for a driver head, and that sad when dispacht does that too drivers,
