Yep, I got the message from FF by text message this morning. I now work for Werner. 16 weeks away from retirement and this. I'll be rethinking my situation. Obviously, I'm not a happy camper this morning.

First Fleet is or was a good carrier. Hate it for a driver I know there.

Yep, I agree. FF was a good, decent little company. Just like any other company, it wasn't perfect. It had its pains, but it wasn't a bad company to drive for. The pay wasn't the best but they didn't hound you like some companies. They weren't nit picking.
One thing I really liked about FF was its maintenance program. If I needed something fixed, I just took it and had it fixed. Filled out a DVIR and kept rolling. Didn't matter what it was. When you filled out a DVIR it went to maintenance & your manager and supervisor by email. I'd still give them a call to update them on the situation and down time etc. But they never questioned anything I needed repaired. They (FF) had the attitude of.... if it aint right, fix it.
If it wasnt drivable, you just put in a call to serve center and they'd send someone to you. If we were near our normal maintenance shop, we could just call them on the phone and ask them to come out, then fill out a DVIR.

Their doing all these acquisitions while also cutting employee benefits due to their mega lawsuit judgement that was eventually reversed in their favor..

Sounds about right on the upkeep. The equipment always looks clean and maintained going down the roads. Dunno that I've ever seen a unit with bent fairings, half a bumper missing, black replacement fairings, etc. Can't say the same for Werner.

I certainly never expected this. It completely caught me off guard. I figured GP (our contract) would go out and sure enough this location sold to IP last year. I said if GP went out, I wouldn't change companies and I wasn't going to move... Not this late in the game. But since IP bought this GP location and kept us moving, I was pretty much content.
I'm trying to get a game plan in place. I just wasn't expecting this.
