I happen to be mechanically inclined..I don't know how many times it have saved me on the road..at shippers ..etc..etc..I feel sorry for drivers who cant even fix a headlamp...

There is unsafe driver's in every company...problem is some people only know how to drive...they don't understand mechanic...troubleshooting ....ive never had anyone ever help me slide my tandems...but I run into owner ops...drivers with so called 15 years experiance...and they ask me which way to slide there tandems..Cu's there overweight ...lol..seriously...or how many holes do I go?...well what's the diameter of the holes I say...then I get the 20 year veterens who brag...next thing I know..my rear view mirror is getting clipped while iam already docked..but iam sure that's my fault due to lack of experience ..should of pulled my mirror's in...then I see drivers in daycabs...lol trying for 20 minutes to blindsided into a dock I just blindsided into with only one pull up..and I have a sleeper...I hear so much b.s...but I can walk the walk..not much for talk...I do what I do...pretty much trained myself..mje Thanks this.

So true on being to fix simple things, and it also helps to carry spare parts like bulbs and mudflaps and twist ties. A rubber floor mat will also come in handy as a mud flap in the case of an emergency; or if you can get your hands on an extra or two mudflaps at your company shop, they can be floor mats till needed.mje Thanks this. -
Some drivers are just lazy or incapable of making decisions, I was in the bath drop yard yesterday and it was full of bad parked trailers 3 drivers were just waiting for their dispatcher (it was at night and everybody knows the quality of night dispatch) to tell them what to do. I dropped my trailer and starting putting trailers closer to each other to make space it took me 20 minutes of moving trailers around to create space for my trailer and 3 may be others while the drivers waited for a mentally challenged glue eating individual in Omaha tell them what to do
mje Thanks this. -
Aren't Werner still buying brand new Peterbilts? Is it that hard to keep up trailers?
mje Thanks this. -
I just got a 2013 386 with 500 miles on it because the 2012 i had before major electrical problems, there's about 70 in the springfield terminal

I lust love listening to whiners. They love to blame every one else for their mistakes, lack of knowlege, or uwillingness to learn. Looking over the various threads. This is clear. you can change the name from werner->swift->jb hunt->cr england->covenat->scheinder-> or any other carrier. They all have their good and bad. My view is this Take responsibity for your actions do the job like we all should. dot inspections, hos, and the other things that go with this job. If all do this the csa scores will go down, tickets will go down, dispatchers will have to do better. We as drivers have to stand up and do the right thing. If you really want to know how a company retetion is ask about their long term drivers million mile 2 million and 3 million driver how long the drivers have been there.
mje Thanks this.
