Werner doesn't allow drivers to carry chains?

Thats not true. A lot of times the roads arent real bad when the chain laws are in effect and you can still be productive and cover a lot of ground. Sometimes the chain laws are just up because the plows had not made it to an area yet. And some states like CO has a tendency to put the chain laws in effect just because the roads has a little mush on them. Just because the chain laws might be in effect doesnt meen you should or need to stay off the road.

CA is notorious for throwing the chain law and the road might only be wet but snowing. Chaining isnt a bad thing in fact the roads are in worse condition and more dangerous to drive on when its slippery and snowing and the chain law hasnt been thrown up yet. chains will not make you wreck or jackknife. They are too help you get traction and get through the bad weather.

It says carry chains, nothing in the law says they have to fit. Yes it is a policy with a lot of the big companies to use chain banks. And yes most of the same say if its that bad then you shouldnt be driving.....Hence why the chains dont fit, LOL Common sense to me would be that the chains fit, but meh what do I know.

I've chained many times to get in or out of a customer, especially a lot of our farm customers on the plains.

The reality is, Colorado may start cracking down on "chain banks", there was a nasty 7 vehicle pile-up Thursday, caused by 2 fourwheelers that tangled, semi coming down behind them wasn't chained (didn't have them, didn't pick them up, don't recall the carrier) jackknifed and almost went over the hillside. Shut down Vail for 3 hours while they got things cleaned up. On Friday, my bosses friend, a Captain with State Patrol, said there is a call from a couple of the legislators from the mountain communities to increase the fines from $500/$1,000 to $1,000/$1,500 and make it mandatory to carry chains statewide Sept. 15 to May 15th, with a $100 fix-it ticket if your caught without them.

Im fairly new only being out a year but the reality to me is that if you are a truck driver the reality is your gonna have to chain and carry them. what if your going over snoqualamie pass or vail or donner and your waiting out the chain law for 3-4 days? All im saying is what if you worked in an office and just decided that you werent gonna make copies cause you didnt like doing it? you would be fired and your boss wouldnt be happy. step up put your big boy pants on and do your job!

My company so rarely has freight going into chain states we don't even worry about it. In fact, the last load that went that direction was a Werner trailer. That driver was given chains to carry, not use.

it seriously takes about 15-20 mins to chain and 5-10 to unchain, depending on how many your throwing. sit all day or 20-30 mins dealing with chains.
