Thats exactly my point myminpins, How in the heck I do not qualify? I was coming right out of school. The thing that was the most odd is that he would not tell me why. He just kept repeating, "you no longer qualify". No matter what question I asked he repeat that. My final question was, Why didnt you call me? If I didnt check my mail, or if I decided to leave a day earlier, I would have not gotten the letter, and I would have wasted a trip down there. That butthole said " you no longer qualify" After the third or fourth time, I hung up. He was a jerk.

My brother was working for Carolina Trucking (under Pacer OTR) , out of Fletcher, North Carolina up until about a month ago. He was a solo/regional driver.
He's never worked for Werner.(The Werner driver I spoke of in my first post was someone else.)

After my brother left Carolina Trucking, he started driving a dump truck locally, in order to have the extra time needed to tie up some personal loose ends, b/c he knew he wouldn't have time to do it after he and I started driving as a team for Werner at the beginning of 2008.

Yes, our plan was for him to be my mentor/trainer, and for us to drive as a team after my training time was up.....Now we're unsure if it's going to happen. That was the reason for my thread.

I hope this clears things up. Sorry for the confusion.

I am suppose to start orientation in Indy, Mon.12/10 for Werner. This was set up over a week ago and we have been in contact ever since. Nothing has led me to beleave that it could be postponed or that there was any question that they were going to hire me.

I have noticed that Werner has a new ad in the industry pubs, stating that they're looking for more experienced drivers.
Maybe they're laying off those with less experience, in order to hire you older, more experienced drivers. They could be trying to improve their image.

Houdinin, what the hell happened to you? First you were going to Schneider, then Mav, and now you're with WERNER? I think you're back tracking bud...what happened?

It wa very interesting hearing about Werner, I used to work for them when they had the "Team Werner". I teamed with my ex and worked for them for a couple of years. When they started the paperless log book, we headed to another company.

I found that Werner was a dominate company at that time and thought the paperless log books would do them under.

Alot of companies are having problems b/c of the DOT regulations. They are getting hit hard with fines. I wonder if this was the problem.

Plus the fact that hiring newer drivers will increase the insurance policies as well. Look at Swift,... just got hit with a $37 million dollar loss due to that 1 accident in/around Pheonix.

I heard on XM trucking channel a few weeks ago, SWIFT, Werner and a couple others (I dont remember) are either laying off or not rehiring for the short term future. I dont know where they got that info, but they made it sound like its because of the economy for the 1st quarter of 2008.
