Ya I usually don't go to the Trucking companies websites for info. If I get anything, I sure will share it.

    Thanks

On road dog trucking (sirious radio) there was a news blip about werner that they were parking or laying off 30 percent of its longhaul and medium haul drivers due to rising fuel costs and soft economic freight availability. being an election year, you need to look at freight history it has always been slow during an election year, shippers are looking for ways to save on frieght cost and are shipping frieght on LTL carriers so the long haul and medium haul carriers are currently feeling the squeez.

My son got his CDL A last week, was pre-hired by Werner and went through orientation this week, got accepted and was waiting on a trainer when they called him yesterday and let him go and said that there were few job openings right now. They used a prior license suspension as the excuse (no felonies, no accidents ever) , but they knew about that going in and told him during orientation that it was okay....that is, until the news stories broke two days ago about Werner's stock problems and the fuel surcharges and possible grounding of hundreds of trucks.

Don't know if his being let go was more about the ticket (only 1 prior and was almost 3 years old) or really about their problems. Maybe a little of both. Doesn't look like the best of times to be getting into the trucking business. :biggrin_25513:

Well there's one less Werner truck they have to worry about. I saw one jacknifed deep in the ditch this morning in Illinios just shy of the Wisconsin border. That has got to be the sickest feeling a driver can have.

Doesn't Werner hire more than 500 drivers a month?

I used to work for an outfit that had a shop behind Sapp's truck stop in Omaha, NE and it seemed like Werner drivers were all over the place. Mostly just hanging out and talking about how great they were going to be once they actually got to drive.

APX Logistics filed bankruptcy naming Werner as a creditor owing over 12 million dollars.

Google Werner Enterprises bankruptcy and there are many threads, but the majority lead to Werner through APX's filing.
