You left Roehl for Werner? From what I hear, that may be something you regret. I only know 2 people with Roehl though. One says it's far better than Werner so far.
Hope you get a good trainer. I was my trainers 1st student. I know more about his truck than he did, and had oodles more actual experience than he. That said, I have met some who knew all about what they were doing and seemed very confident, cool headed, and even nice to be around. I was merely glad my trainer showered daily(except twice) while we were out, and kept a fairly clean truck that didn't smell like a locker room. We ran dedicated, which certainly helps.

Well good luck and hopefully you do not have a run in with another trainer.

For all the Werner drivers that have made it over ther years what are you doing? As in are you running team, training, solo, dedicated. Just curious I only get a chance to talk to a few drivers here and there. Also were do you think the best frieght is for you company?
Thanks Mike. -
Talked to a guy who started at Werner in 1988. He was really nice and offered what would otherwise be considered sound advice as to dealing with the dispatchers, etc. The problem was, I'd already been angered to the point of no return by then, and I was home in less than 1 week from that day. He told me his daughter and son-in-law both work for Werner now. He also told me he's got no expectation that either will stay more than 5yrs due to changes in company policy since C.L. left.

Well for one thing, the company policy on Cell phones is that you are to follow the laws of the state you are in. The exact working in the book is: "It is the company policy to follow all state laws with regard to the use of telephones or other electronic communication devices while the vehicle is in motion. Company recommends that you do nothing while driving that could distract your attention and prohibits the use of such devices when their use would hinder safe operation of your vehicle taking into consideration relevant conditions and safety factors."
But later in the student section it does clearly say the trainer is the sole person whom is allowed to give premission to use a cellphone etc if you are a trainee.
I run team with werner, prior my husband ran for a short stint southwest regional. The best loads are by far Proctot and Gamble loads, with Office Max being a close second. I don't prefer the Nestle loads as they take forever to get loaded. -
I just finished training at werner, and had a super cool trainer "Nick". We drove as part of team werner. Lots of miles and lots to learn. I was told the best runs were forward air and the refer walmart routes running east to west? I had an issue and "HAD" to get home, they realy worked to accomodate me. Was in Cali when the issue arose, they had me in Ohio on a greydog and home in less than 72 hrs. Hats off to uncle werner for that. I have heard a lot of messages saying i cant get miles from werner, or I cant make any money. It seems if you do your job, keep the left door shut, keep the ladies of the eve out, and keep the pedal down you cant help but make money? A guy I know in fleet told me 30-40% of high priority and jit loads are late? Referring to my previous post, crybabies, and whiners shouldn't truck, now before anyone gets on a high horse, and begin to pontificate think about it. If you dont lie on your application, and do your job well why would a carrier punnishes you for it with no miles ? There are a lot of hard working, wicked intelligent truckers out there but just as many that are worthless buffet molesting dolts, that are dumber than a bucket of rocks, and lazyer than a hooker on qualudes. If they treat a hard worker poorly ask for a new fleet manager or haul tail to a company that does need truckers and wants to make money, but if you have a company that wants to make money and you cant do your job meeting your time limits, why should you get important loads or high milage routes that have time limits? werner to my understanding has not reported a loss untill this quarter, with fuel so high. Seems like they want to make money? I know ther are situations where its fat of the land or famine, but jesus christ are you truckers or toddlers that needs everything handed to you. I look forward to constuctive criticism. I dont feel I know everything about the trucking industry but I know enough to know a weak slackers bluff when I hear it.
Have a great day

dont the comouter logs keep you from being able 2 go when you need 2, it seems like you would get a lot of logging violations trying 2 get miles. how many miles do you average? I went 2 a paper log company and went from 300 per week with werner 2 950 per week(kllm) unfortunately was terminated, last tuesday, might have 2 go back since they will hire anyone, maybe wasnt patient enogh 1st time, but 2 be away from my wife and kids i believe its not worth it unless i make close 2 1000 per week
talk 2 you l8r
