Werner pushes new hires through Lakeland, FL(about 30per class X3 =90), Lithia Springs, GA(about 60per class X3 =180), Springfield, OH(about 50per class X3 = 150), Omaha, NE(maybe 100per class X3 =300).. ... ... If those numbers are even close, Werner pushes over 700 employees per week...
That doesn't include any other terminals. I know they use Fontana, CA, Allentown, PA, Dallas, TX and Indianapolis, IN, and I'm told they use Denver, CO, Portland, OR and Pheonix, AZ too.
That's astounding to me. I really think more than 1,000 per week may get orientation... What's the real turnover rate at Werner???

You have to be very careful with ANY company now days. Turnover isn't necessarily a reflection of a poor company to work for. But it's a #### good indicator.
Outlaws can be some of the best companies there are to work for. But, when you place your license on the line every day. Turnover can eat them alive. I left one several years ago, NOT because they treated me bad, paid me poorly, or any other "bad" things.
I left, because I realized I would not have a CDL within another 6 months if I stayed. And I was knocking down about $1600 a week, home on weekends EVERY weekend. -
All this xNumber X so many times a week and so forth Drivers hired/orentiation..IS FUZZY at Best..FUZZY MATH!!
Any Driver who has 20Plus years experience, and has not achieved every American Truckers Dream. NEVER WILL.
THX 4 The Good Run WEMP !..Rock'on..! -
What was your dream?
Mine was a bi redhead and a paid for house.
-
Did you know. There is a whole business centered around late deliveries? You can buy the software which gives you a report of the statis of the days deliveries? You can track them and file for late fees and collect a percentage of the profits. You can do this from your home terminal for a percentage of the fee.

The little 4Yr. run I had with Wemp (90-94 flatbed) Put me in a 377 conventional PETE with a double bunk walk'in right off the bat.Thats was one dream furfilled for a Driver in those daze.
Truck/Trailer/Redhead/Real Estate ownership ect.all came into play later.
This would NOT have been possible running for some (outlaw) defunct farmer/transportation dream.
I will never be able to thank Clarence,Jim,Greg & Gary enough. And as I have met them all and more in person, while getting thing done.Im sure the have bigger fish to fry...So..THX Anyway WEMP
Im such a LUCKY guy !! -
Oh how we all miss the good old days. Good freight, cheap fuel, and bird dogs.

But, I feel lucky too. Without a truck of my own. Very lucky indeed.
And mine would not have been possible except for those defunct outlaw dreamers, who hired me with NO experience.
Of course, there wasn't a 4-wheeler in every space of more than 10 feet on the highway then either.
-
NO Body on the face of the earth can call WEMP defunct outlaw dreamers, with any merit.
Any Body ever been to see see operations in Omaha has only a second fiddle to compare, otherwise.
Pie was 5cents a slice and my DAD never had enough 4A slice a pie.Fuel has always ben expensive.More acurately Very Expensive.ect.
Thaks WEMP for being an important part of furfilling every dream imagineable to this "Trucker"... -
I agree, and don't think anyone here disagrees.
Possibly, but that operations center only exists because of people like you, and later, me, who ran hard to see to it deposits were made into the bank. WEMP made a bundle more than we ever will. And while that facility is excellent, it gets more use from dispatchers and such than truckers, who essentially pay for it all every day.
My dad started broke too... He got some pie though, and has owned a string of businesses which he was able to sell later. He's retired and comfy at this point, but he still works because he enjoys it. The likes of Werner had little to do with it, aside from the fact he repaired the equipment they weren't willing or able to repair themselves.
Glad you're happy with it. The problem is, things have changed significantly. Clarence no longer runs the show, and it has fallen from grace since his departure. You wanna go in to see your dispatcher today? Get in line and be prepared for a bad attitude and a lack of knowledge... They have plenty of both for everyone. -
So Much for the FUZZY Math Myth #!
Its pretty odvious things have changed for the BETTER over time.
Im not gonna wait In line,..Shoot Rob you seem as misinformed as dancer4u.I used to call Jim Werner (my travelagent) from down the hall when I was in Omaha.
Thanks so much to all who contrubuited to my LUCKY life.
I LOVE YOU !
Expecially C.L. Werner...!!!
Most of all Thanks 2Myself..!!!...WOW
