Please read the responce I wrote to myminpins and also I for one am not a " Super Trucker " also I agree with you on not knowing everything and when I do need help and try to find someone who will help me no one wants to because they thing I am just some stupid Werner Driver. I would very much like to make up a network of Drivers and friends out here on the road but you have to look past the blue truck and the name. SO if I made some ppl upset in my thoughts and my post well I think that is good now maybe other drivers will think before they talk crap to me because of who I drive for. Have you ever met and talked to a Werner driver, if you have and are not one of the MANY ppl out there who talk crap than thank you.
Werner is a good company

I brickman was refering to iraqvet.. i know i was ... not to you at all ... and for future refrence, if anyone slams you for driving for werner , ignor it .. people get picked on no matter who they drive for ... one rule of thumb that i have learned long ago and still follow is that it dont matter if you drive for werner, swift, jb , prime, etc, it dont matter if you drive 6, 10, or 18 wheels, we share the same road and would like to keep alive and safe out there ...

I have never ever had someone talk bad about another company while on the road. We may make a comment about a particular driver but no one generalizes and says all so and so drivers are bad. Sorry, never heard it so don't condone anyone saying anything nasty like you did.

i think he is just sore that people talk down to him for driving for werner and he takes it personally which he shouldn't ... everyone has opinions and sometimes some take it to heart and they shuldn;t but they do ...i personally dont have a favorite company, or a favorite brand of truck ... i personally will drive for anyone and drive anything as long as i get miles and i am on the road ... i can careless in making 1300 a week or whatnot.. i am happy with being on the road and if i had to work my miles and get paid 500 a week, who cares, i know i dont .. as long as i do what i love and that is driving and the bills are paid ...
something i am not experienced in and that is taking the lady in my life on the road with me ... i have taken my son and daughter a few times, but they are grown and now it is her turn to go for the very first time and that is something i never experienced and look forward to seeing if she can handle it .. guess i will know thursday when i pull out and she is in the seat screaming that she is bouncing hahahahahahahahaSwampThing and dynosaur Thank this. -
Hope she enjoys it as much as I did!!! And that you have an air ride passenger seat! For the first time, drove in a passenger seat WITHOUT an air ride seat - UGH!! NOT NICE!!!!
And, yeah, you're right about the rest but that doesn't give him the right to come on here and harp about people calling him names - we didn't do it!!!! -
I am just tired of ppl talking crap to me because of who I work for. I agree Werner has some faults but then so does every other company. I work hard and for long periods of time ( 1.5 to 2 months out ). All I am saying is before you judge someone for who they drive for think about it. Bubba you seem like a wise man and I am sure you are a safe driver. Thank you for your comments. Norther

hey mymin ... i have a question .. those aircards for internet .. how expensive are they and how are the signals on the road .. thinking of getting one for her and dont know the pricing or anything.. might keep her off me when going down the road .. hahahahaha

Get one from Verizon. You get a free card with a contract or you pay around $100 for the card. Make sure you get the right kind - most new laptops take the Express card, NOT the PCMCIA card.
It's $69 a month, I think, plus all the yadda yadda taxes. The signal is great in the northeast except, of course, for parts of Maine where signals suck, period. I loved having it - sure kept me busy when I was bored and it got dark early.
Also, if the signal sucks a lot because you're out of large cities, check into Maximum Signal's boosters - he's got one on for a Christmas draw - they're supposed to help a lot.
Make sure you buy an adapter for her to plug her laptop into in the truck (cig. lighter adapter to plug) -
How long have you been driving there? I'm a recent graduate looking for my first job, and I keep hearing these stories about people out 8 weeks with a trainer just to get their 375 DRIVE hours in, that it's hard to get all those hours when you're fueling, loading/unloading, waiting around, team driving, so on. Basically, the story is Werner uses new grads as cheap labor sources. Then when you're done, you sit in a motel for weeks unpaid and wait for someone to die or quit so you can get your truck. That there's guys living on the continental breakfast because they're out of money. There's some things I like about Werner, but after hearing all this, and hearing you only get 26 cents per mile to start, I'm wary of them.CaterpillarHombre1 Thanks this.

Hi, I have been out here with Werner for about 6 months or so. You have to go to 200 + hrs of on road training but it is about 300 hrs. Yes new grads are cheap labor and they will try to break you to weed out the weak but if you pay attention to your trainer and you have a positive outlook the rewards are good. Yes it is only .26 cents a mile to start but a lot of new guys are getting new trucks. Also you never sit for weeks un-paid at a hotel who ever told you that doesnt know. You get a weekly rate as a student and when you test out and go to the terminal / motel to wait to get a truck you get $40.00 a day every day you wait. Say you agree to the 200 + hrs of training and your student driver manager asks you to stay on for another 100 hrs all you have to do is tell them ok and how much are you going to pay me extra. It is around a $100 or $150. Also if you stay on for the full training peroid without taking a week off make sure you have all ready set up the $500. bonus. Also if you run out of money while waiting for a truck they will give you an advance. Keep in mind Werner as all companys are for profit and are giving you an expensive truck to drive and they dont know you at all, so ya you will find it is not easy but worth it if you listen, learn and try. Also Werner has a ton of trucks waiting to go back out on the road there just is a slow down of getting them out right now. Another note Werner has a very tough
Alcohol and drug policy for students and Drivers. ZERO tolerance.
Hope this helps and good luckMichigan Matt and venne Thank this.
