Sure wish I would have known that before, I would have liked to have made $90,000 my first year. Ya think if I go there now I can still make that much more?

 

I think it also depends on your dispatch and how hard he is going to run you bad dispatch can give you a 2000 miles week or less I have heard.. good dispatch just because he doesn't want to see a message on his computer saying that you are waiting on a load is going to give you a long one and not having to deal with you.... Do not I repeat do not get a pre assigned after 6 pm the night dispatch are mentally retarted and don't know what to do.

 

AT, you almost sound like a W&S recruiter! LOL! I have indeed talked with W&S. I'm also in talks now with System Trans flatbed division...a lot can happen in 24 hours! All I had to do was follow up!

The only thing about W&S I don't like is the lack of training. I wouldn't mind being shown the ropes by an experienced driver. Sure they won't just give you in the truck if you're not ready, but I'm sure there is something to gain from going OTR with a trainer for a couple of months. That's why System Trans is above W&S. I think it would be a better fit for me.

 

Do not count on Werner to get you a lot of good training. You may do OK and get a good trainer, or you may not. When I trained with them one of my trainers was pretty good and I did learn a good amount from him. I did learn more once I was on my own though than I ever did with training.

Not sure how WS does what they do, but if you are not pushed too hard at the start and have some common sense I could see it working.

 

At W/S you go solo straight out of Orientation.

OK dude, had it with you. All you do is bash this company, and then when someone calls you out on it and why, all you have to say is this crap. Have you ever worked for Werner? No, you put ur time in at Watkins and now you're at Landstar, (If you're still there) so why the F*@K are you posting on this thread. If you know really nothing about the company ####. He read all the bad post already,he's looking for some pros probably to make him feel better about his choice. Let him cut his teeth where he wants. Its not like he's gonna be there forever and not make a dime.

 

A Good tip, but it appears to me that Watkins Shepherd only hires in certain areas. Won't work for me. I start with Werner next week. I think it is the right choice for me.... and I just want to get my six months to a year of OTR. Two of my fellow students from CDL school are there already and seem to like it a lot.
