x1Heavy Thanks this. -
And so get hired with a major company, find yourself muled to drive while trainer sleeps like a full team would with a VERY expensive and valuable JIT (Just in time) loads.
It will be a impossible situation. When trainer must be up with Trainee when he or she is driving under trainers supervision.
You will also find that weather is irrevelant. Ice? HA. Snow? HAH. High winds? HAW... forgetaboutit.
If you got blown over trying to cross Wyoming in high winds then it's blamed on you, the newbie totally. And ruled preventable. The company has no trouble betraying the trust in the so called Captian of the ship and say you should have stopped until the winds have passed.
That makes me late you argue.
Your dispatcher will make a new appt time and then fill out a incident report to your DM when your load fails to arrived as expected by Customer who then complains. They will eliminate you for being too much late too often. (I have been in the past. A simple firing which is seriously wasteful because no one works to make a new appt time for delivery that is acceptable to all involved.
And little wonder we migrate toward Robot trucks.NavigatorWife, LoSt_AgAiN, JC1971 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Couldn't be happier.
That's the consequences of cheap inexperienced drivers.
They got what they paid for.Studebaker Hawk, skellr, sevenmph and 5 others Thank this. -
well, student driver, maybe fell asleep behind the wheel..??
store doe not say the time of day (or) night this accident happened. -
Hopefully the ATA will get involved to protect its member's rights to make money without being hampered by ludicrous government regulations or frivolous concerns about public safety.
Lots of extra humans around, and many of them have different beliefs and lifestyles anyway.
One of those squeally pig radio commentators can elaborate in sanctimonious and grandiose detail, but in short we need to allow corporations to do whatever they need to do for profit, which is far more sacred than human life. The verdict is an outrageous example of how we need tort reform to protect future yacht purchases.Studebaker Hawk, roshea, not4hire and 3 others Thank this. -
Everybody was cheap and inexperienced once.shroomhauler, Swedish Chef, snowwy and 6 others Thank this.

I would think most companies don't allow students to drive at night until after a certain amount of time has passed.
-
The industry itself would have to totally stop scheduling trucks to where they have to require running through the night to get somewhere 1000 miles away at sunrise in any weather, any season. No excuses.
But boss, his answer: Yer fired. Go home.
But,
GTFO my property go home. yer fired. Don't make me call the law to arrest you too. (Then it will be a while before you see your spouse and children... Months if not years.)NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
well it depends on who you work for. i worked for a company in the beginning, that i showed the trainer that i could do the job. we went "team" in like less than 2 weeks, (maybe less, i cannot fully recall)
even when i first started out with that trainer, i ran nights. as it was explained to me back then, "you will be driving at all hours of the day or night, eating when you should be sleeping, sleeping when you should be driving, etc, etc"NavigatorWife and starmac Thank this.
