I trained with Stevens in 1998 and worked there two years. Started at $.22/mile but I worked my ### off and was taking home $700 a week or more every week. They had the miles. But we ran paper back then.

Where did you read that?
And the answer is a bunch of them are desperate for drivers and absolutely would be better. One over 15 in a car? Are you kidding? Companies are hiring convicted felons. -
Hey Josh!
I started at Roadmaster on Monday. I'm having the same problem with knowing where to go. I too have a pre hire offer from Werner and will be filling out an app for Stevens this weekend. I struggle with wanting to work for Stevens only because I know 2 people that have worked for them and quit due to lack of pay or better stated, not enough of a paycheck to survive on. I'm willing to go ahead and consider Stevens just because of the training I'd receive and the experience. Good luck with your choice and I'll see ya next Saturday on my mandatory day.Rookietrucker89 Thanks this. -
I'll probably be seeing you during the week soon. I'm doing 2-3 weekends and then moving on to weekdays. Good luck and let me know what you decide and how it works for you!GraceLives Thanks this.

I read you original post to this thread to my husband who is a driver for JCT and he agrees about the rate. I have an app in with Swift but have not heard back from them as of yet. Like I said, I'm only willing to consider Stevens due to the training and to get my feet wet as it were. I've heard not just from you (or was it someone else on this thread - I don't recall) that they have the best training in the industry. Also, its not just what I've read but the folks I know who have gone to their school and did their training with them that say the same. Quoting .27 CPM equals $350 a week (posted on their website) which equals about $5 bucks an hour or more depending on miles you actually get to drive that week. That is not okay in my book. I will be doing some more research on the apps I have in this weekend, Swift being one of them. -
Have you read ANYTHING on this forum? Or are you just another company rep?

Go to a community college...first option....or a private trucking school with a good recommendation...second option.....then good companies will line up at your door.
