To the original poster of this thread: Props to you for not following the herd! I think you will find that the mom and pop companies are the best! You also have a better chance at being treated as an individual instead of a number. Good luck to you!
Got back this evening from a interview, road test, and physical at Mansur Trucking in Janesville Wi. I am so impressed with the people, the company, and equipment at Mansur. They said pending the drug test results, I will be hired. I never studied for the drug test but I am sure I passed lol.
Laugh all you want. You do not have a clue. Google Earth has nothing on the black box stuff that has been out there for years. Been there, seen it, worked it. Big Brother is watching, but hey, you only think that is a TV show.
Hey DickJones Thanks for reply = ABOUT THE INVERTERS = I have a 2,000 watt in my Class A motorhome that runs everything when we want or need it to. So I am familiar with them and spoiled with the ones I have. Last company I drove for had everything in the cab for us. And even had a big inverter for our use. When I was driving in Alaska, I also paid just under $100.00 for one that plugs into a cigarette lighter plug. Has 2 outlets and 2 USB ports and some other stuff; but I need to go to my home and get it. I know it was over 400 watts and I think 600 watts; but not for sure. Best powered on I could find for cigarette lighter. Also, I have another separate inverter that runs off the cigarette lighter plug just for charging my laptop or using it while it is plugged in. Already have all of that stuff. BTW = Miss The Hilltop Truck Stop - great people and great food and great coffee. Think you took my drift a little wrong = I was backing up KE5WDP on how he was treated by recruiters and telling how I experienced the same thing. Tks for reply = at least you read it kinda right. ha ha. Not directed at you = to those who are quick to read without really reading what is written and then yell at others. Or calling that person a liar when the responder was not there, not involved in the converstation on the phone or at orientation or interview, etc. That is why I usually do not answer posts; because I know there are going to be those who do not read it correctly, as the words are typed on the page. And some how, reads entirely different words than I typed. I am a very happy person with a positive attitude and try not to trash others = except when due, in my opinion = like the non trucker who also responded to my post, who just wants to just be heard. I do not know what kind of dope, oh excuse me = drugs they are taking - which by the way are prescribed by their doctor, and we all know how legal and right that is. Anna Nicole Smith, Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson all took drugs prescribed by their doctor also, along with thousands like them. So that makes it ok. Yea, right. I take no drugs of any kind. Do not need them and glad I do not have a condition, illness or supposed what ever where I get them prescribed. We all have friends, etc. who are on life saving drugs, which is a totally different situation. I have lost friends to diabetes, encephalorrhagia, cancer, etc. and feel for anyone being treated for those and any other life changing illnesses, diseases, etc. So I am not making fun or light of that or those suffering from them. Making sure I get that in there so the non trucker woman does not read words that are not there - again. But to say they got red flags from my post, from words they read that I did not even type. ha ha. Sounds like funny mushrooms to me. By hey, just my opinion and we all know, like they say, we all have one. Ludacris is a male rapper = so what does he have to do with my post.? Same as LE = I guess. Both wrong. Lastly, it is rude and presumptuous of this non trucker, who does not know what they are talking about, assumes and is insulting to type "stuck it out" insinuating what she must again - have thought up or picked out from you know where = to think and others might perceive that I could not make it or was let go from one of these top notch world wide company's. Far from the truth = and I did not want to sound like I was bragging so I left it out before; since it has absolutely nothing to do with trucking, my business, or what I want to do with my life = which is really no one else's business; but for her and maybe others who gets stuff from places need not be mentioned here = here goes = Oh, remembered what my Father always said about people like this = it you mess with it - you get it on you. No thanks. But as I try to look for the good in everything and everybody = when she said = "but that seems like a big gamble to leave that background to drive a truck" maybe she was trying to think nice after slamming me. I doubt it; but I try and think positive. And the "reasons to keep you away from coming" it might be directed at anyone reading her post and not to me personally. Which is how I take it as = because Nothing keeps me from applying, etc. Nothing bad is holding me up and I am not afraid of anything = just that = an ex coworker, friend - now a best friend, ha ha, sent me 2 tickets to attend their 30 day wedding - honeymoon cruise, all expenses to and from, etc. paid; so I am going. Previously went on several cruises a year; but not for a few years after the virus started hitting the ships. And of course not for years to come once I go back to driving. Yep, DICKJONES, I am an Ex trucker = OTR, coast to coast and Alaska = and after years in non driving positions I have decided to go back to what I loved doing. Driving OTR as a team, living in the truck. I am pro company and have always been with any company I worked for. Was there for them, always. Would take any run or load they needed done. Never turned down a job. Sometimes we were out over 3 months straight with no home time. Just kept moving except for regs on HOS, etc. Sometimes I was flown to complete delivery of a load when the company fired someone on the spot for violating company policy, etc. and drive back or to where ever I was told to go to - great; I was there. Proud of it. If it gets to the point that I am not happy going to work each day, then I move on. I do not stay in that job and bad mouth the company, my co worker's or other company employees, customer's etc. To me, those are the idiots, not the ones they are talking about. I stay away from those people, want nothing to do with them. Do not like being around negative people, loud mouth blow holes, know it alls, etc. My opinion. I have always been professional at work but after work is my own time and no one else's. I ended up finding fantastic Recruiter's working for Swift, CRST, USXpress. Very professional and knowledgable. I hung it out with Swift - calling till I got what I considered the Recuiter I wanted to work with = because - I personally = think Swift is one of the best transportation company's out there that keeps their people on the road and working. However they decide who to keep running. Not my job, none of my business. Have not decided who to apply with yet; but have all of the recruiter's names and call back numbers when I do. Now I have decided to go to a truck driving academy to "get back in the saddle again". Sure I could take my state CDL permit and hop in the rigs with any of the number of friends I have out there driving their own rigs = but they agreed with me that the best way to get a job with a large transportation company = after being away = is to go to that transportation company's private driving academy and get hired with that company. We all know of several men and woman who went to private truck driving schools, got their state CDL but did not get hired by any of the larger transportation company's until they went through that company's driving academy.
Sock It To Me: Seems I struck a nerve. You sure do have a lot to say for someone that doesn't ever post on threads. First and foremost....I don't comment to be heard. I actually like to sit back and read most of the stuff & I also talk via private message with quite a few great people from here. These words you say I pull out of thin air.....sweetheart, I read your posting as I was typing mine to make sure I had the comparison & only spoke about stuff you had posted. You need to realize everyone is not going to agree with you! The thing that stuck out most to me was you saying someone was a drug addict because they talked fast. That has NOTHING to do with my knowledge on the trucking industry.....it has to do with my knowledge of life. You can not & never will be able to tell if someone is a drug addict just by listening to them over the phone. Maybe you are one of those types of people that can't handle someone challenging your almighty words. Please let me apologize and bow down to your feet since you are the high power known as God. Get real buddy! You talk a good game but you have to remember someone will always be able to beat you. Am I claiming to be that person? Nope. But I am someone that speaks my mind & my opinion which I am entitled to 100%. I don't claim to know jack about trucking because I don't drive a truck. I am on here to improve my knowledge on the field my husband is making a career in. It's called being a good wife. I never challenged your education on trucking. I challenged your intelligance on being the human drug test that you claimed to be.
