I work for Roehl, great starter company. They don't require hazmat and I've never had a problem getting paid for the miles I ran. Been with them for two months. I'm currently saving up for my future plans.

I started here, I would recommend this company to anyone. There are better ones to start with but Roehl isn't bad.

When I emailed them they were always quick to respond and Cheryl always gave me all the info I needed.

If you have any questions about them I'll try to answer best I can. I'm in Lakeland, fl right now waiting for a load. So just let me know

I was gonna hitch up with them but the recruiter lady never called me back. That was probably cause I was out of the country for a couple of years and she said something about the insurance company needing some background or something but, I wonder if now that I got my CDL it'll still be the same story. Although I'm happy where I'm at now, you never know when that'll change. I've heard working for a trucking company is like marriage. It's all nice and beautiful until you say I do, then the real monster comes out! XD

All companies have their ups and downs lol.

I like them but if your happy where your at I'd stay put until you get enough experience to get on with better paying company. Not that Roehl pays bad, I started at .30 cpm. It goes up every 3 months as long as I make good mpg, don't go over 70mph, and don't brake hard too many times. Like I said its a great company to start with.

    Two months.

I don't go to Canada either, I don't have my passport. They say they require it but they don't. My trainer said don't worry, cuz going to canada isn't worth the headache. You get $50 for crossing the border. He said to him it wasn't worth it, but in the summer time Canada is a beautiful place. He was also an owner operator leased to Roehl, so I don't know I'd he was talking about the fuel price difference or not lol

But I'm not planning on getting my passport, unless they start actually requiring it.

Harvey, im not trying to be rude...but, i hear alot of people talking about all these GREAT companies other than the 'bottom feeders' that are hiring fresh grads. Would you provide a list (large or small) of these companies? if ure not comfortable placing that list on here, then please send it to me in a private message...:biggrin_255: thanks in advance

Drtydiesel, I'm glad you're happy with Roehl and that you posted. It's reassuring! Are you pleased with the home time they offer? Do you feel like you got enough training? 13 days OTR as compared to the 30 days other companies offer doesn't seem like much.

Well phase 1 training is orientation. It's 8 days.

Then phase 2 is going out with your trainer. That can be 7-14 days. It depends how your trainer feels about if your ready or not. If you need more than 14 days you'll get it, they work with you a lot. I was out with a trainer for 11 days, I was confident I was ready to go out on my own and so was he.

Now I'm in phase 3, I'm assigned a newbie dispatcher if you will. In another week or two ill be assigned my permanent dispatcher. They try to keep you out of new York and very busy places while your still very new.

I like the hometime, the hometime fleets are 14/7, 7/7, and 7/4 7/3.

I chose national fleet because I want to be out longer. I stay out 18-20 days at a time, that earns me 4-5 days off. Anymore time off I'm ready to get back in the truck. This past time I stayed home 4 days and that's enough for me. Of course I'm still new but I was itchin to get back behind the wheel by my 3rd day. What I like is I can choose to stay out as long as I want and say if I get 4 days off and on the 2nd day I wanna get back out then they'll let me shorten my hometime if I want. I might earn 4 days but tell them Im staying home for two then it's fine. I like that.

    It's Conway...all the way!

There's NO comparison between the two.

Good choice DirtyDiesel! If you want to make any kind of money out there you have to stay out for longer periods of time. Otherwise you are just wasting your time out there.
