Chomp,Drty pardon the potentially dumb question but what's involved in the background check? The last email I received from them was, "You're in. contact me on Monday to see if we are done with the background checks."
I have no arrests. No tickets or accidents in three years, credit could use work but not horrible. What could possibly trip me up?

Credit isn't going to hurt you. The mega-companies are very intense though on their background checks, which is understandable. They are giving strangers millions of dollars of equipment and freight to be entrusted with! Most of those companies have their own private investigators that work for them. Central used to have an X cia agent that did their stuff. (so they said!) Really though, as long as you don't have any felonies or bad MVR you should be fine. Now if you lie you will be screwed though. So don't do that! It can take months for them to clear you and if they find something or you lied you will get a message telling you to come to the nearest terminal.
Apparently you passed the gist of it so your good to go!
I wouldn't sweat it anyway.

Thanks for the reassurance! I was upfront with everything- integrity is like virginity, once you lose you can never get it back!

Don't worry about a think man, Chompi said it right and told ya that's what their looking for is to make sure you didn't lie about your criminal history or lack there-of. When I got the email from Cheryl that they were done with everything but the background check I knew id be fine. It was maybe two days later that she called me and setup my orientation date. Good luck to you bro. Keep us updated on everything.

Here's a VT job opening fatback. -
Thanks, Turnanburn. But I think I'd prefer some OTR where I don't exclusively drive nights... at least starting off...
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I love being OTR. I wouldn't wanna be home every night, I like being out on the road and living the dream lol

Drty, what's the eight-day orientation entail? Other than company policies and the like it seems as though much of it is a mini CDL school...

A friend of mine's wife got him a Garmin a couple of years ago. It is one of the $99 or so models. He doesn't totally rely on it. He still uses his Rand McNally and will call shippers for directions. He told me it is only a tool that he uses. You still need to read road signs and be aware of your surroundings.
airforcetoo Thanks this.
