I guarantee you there is not a single werner tractor that is automatic. I'm sure theres probably a few owner ops that have them, but those arent *werner* tractors.
All the ones i've driven except for a daycab were 9 speeds with automatic overdrive...which is pretty far from automatic. -
I thought werner had super 10's as well. Or is that what you mean by 9 speed with automatic overdrive?
-
A super 10 is where you flip a switch on the side of the shift knob every other shift, and the actual stick only moves 5 times, you put it in 1st, flip the switch, let off the gas until rpm drops, gas it and it engages, flip switch back and move stick to next position, and repeat for all 10 gears. Stick moves 5 times and the switch moves every time you shift. No werner tractor has that except for owner operators (who have whatever they want).
A 9 speed with automatic overdrive, aka "Eaton Fuller 9 Speed Top 2", you shift it like a 4 speed, flip the range selector and do it again, when you get into 8th gear, it automatically shifts between 8th and 9th as needed. Unlike a true autoshift transmission, it uses zero common sense whatsoever for these automatic shifts. Its an easy transmission to drive but it takes some getting used to if youre used to a 10...
