Thanks for the input AfterShock, now I will address your idiocracy, one point at a time....
Actually, since company policy is that the student gets to see the evaluations and the road trainer has no final say in the matter, it would not have happened. He had no reason to give me a bad evaluation because he was too busy yelling at his wife on the cell phone to pay attention to what I was doing half the time anyway. Now, I will say....I am not some moron who has never driven a truck until I started at CRST. I have drivien heavy fire apparatus, some of which were semi-trailer, for almost 10 years. I had limited experience with Standard Transmissions so the company required I do time with a trainer. I learned the essentials of the 10 speed tranny in school, so when I got with the trainer, I followed the rules of the road and the rules of the company. If he would have failed me, I would have sued them and him and I have the means to do it. I mean obviously there is a breakdown in the training process when the student drives better than the supposed "trainer" who has 12 years of experience with OTR Trucking....and yeah, I'll say it, I was a better driver and thats not over confidence, that's the truth, plain and simple.
Nope, because if he did I would have lodged a complaint against him for urinating in a bottle in the back of the truck. It's against company policy and a full bottle of pee in the back of a truck is physical evidence....proving that a "deer" didn't really run out in front of me while he was peeing is almost impossible.
Because it is disgusting and unsanitary. You know, this isn't 1960 when truckers were filthy apes who never bathed.....the image is changing, keep up or work somewhere else. I am not lazy to the point where I can't pull the truck off into a rest area and use the bathroom....hell, I'll pull off an exit ramp and "check the 5th wheel," but I don't come into your bedroom and pee in a bottle, so why should anyone come into mine and do the same thing and it be accpeted?
Yeah, actually he did, because I had an issue backing into a dock with his "expert" tutilage. He harped on me about it for about two weeks....funny thing was, when I was backing into the dock and finally told him to shut his pie hole and let me do it by myself, I got right in.....this is all the while he is sitting in the passenger seat of the truck instead of on the ground guiding me which is company policy. So now we have two violations of company policy.
And you know what, thats good. As a trainer you are expected to be one of the MOST professional drivers in your company. Why should I not, as a student, demand a competent and professional trainer who has not only a complete knowledge of company policies but a professional appearance and demeanor as well? I am going to be responsible for a $100,000 Truck, a $50,000 trailer and god knows how much in freight....is it a bad thing to hold a trainer to higher standards?
Thats the point, he didn't I was simply leaving the Loves Truck Stop in Yuma Arizona and there was a line of trucks waiting for the fuel pumps. I had to make a left turn to leave the parking lot. One of the trucks waiting for fuel saw me with my blinker on, stopped and let a gap form for me to pull out, I pulled out enough to see that no other truck was jetting up the wrong side of the road, pulled out wide enough to make the turn and proceeded to leave the lot. I know how to watch mirrors.....it was simply that my trainer had been asleep hadn't "trained" me in anything that day except how to find the Jack in the Box with truck parking. He would do that frequently and then go into a tirade of "Watch this and Watch that" because basically, if I didn't make a mistake, he would go deep sea fishing to find something to correct me on. We picked up a load, I backed under, hooked the lines and was putting the landing gear up, he went around and sealed the load. He came back and was sending the loaded and leaving message, he didn't write the seal number down. He asked me what it was, I said "I don't know, you put it on." He said I was always to remember the seal number...I proceeded to pull out my notebook that had EVERY seal number written on it that I had physically put on the door. He then told me I shouldnt take my notebook with me to the back of the truck because it could fall out of my pocket and we would lose dispatch info.....I then told him I write the seal number down as soon as I get it out of the cabinet and stick it in my pocket when I exit the truck and leave the notebook in the truck, he said I shouldnt do that because I could damage the seal and have to get another and then the seal number would be different (I am NOT making this conversation up.) It was just neverending nitpicking because he had NO formal instruction on how to be a trainer.....I guess he felt if he wasn't correcting me, he wasn't doing his job.
See above in ref to the truck stop in Yuma. I did nothing wrong in this instance.....I made a left turn without hitting anything and safely made my re-entry onto I-8. So what did I do wrong? I know the physics of a 53' trailer and how it differs by where your tandems are adjusted to. At 41', there is minimal tail swing....
Oh, its a huge deal, but I don't know too many truckers that haven't, myself included. If I tap a trailer backing into a dock, it's not the end of the world, so why treat it like that?
Nah, I think it had more to do with the 15 Mountain Dew's he drank everyday....
Because I don't have more than 2 years OTR Exp or 6 Months with the Company.....it's not supernatural.
I don't get you at all, you seem to be irritated that I, as a professional driver, demand professionalism from a trainer. This person is responsible for teaching student truckers how to deliver someones freight in an 80,000#, 70 foot long, $150,000 piece of equipment, if you DONT demand the best from your training program, you need to rethink why you are a truck driver. You DONT have to deal with Filth, you DONT have to deal with incompetence. Fortunately I had some experience driving before this so I just blocked my trainer out and did what I had to do....I did NOT give him a favorable review.

I was a trainer for Werner a while ago and used to know the exact percentage. At the time I had figured it out the difference between taking your week PTO half way through training and hanging out til the end and getting that bonus after delivering your first load. It was a whooping $4.00 difference.
I pointed that out to all my students and let them choose between staying with me for all their hours, or taking that PTO.
Sounds like you should maybe take that PTO. And please do all of us a favor and lodge complaints with your SDM, the driver relations department, and your current fleet manager. I'm serious- please please complain!
If you don't either start a file on him, or add to his file, he will continue to treat others in the same repulsive manner. -
I looked it up in my dictionary, but it wasn't in there. I did find 'idiopathic' though -- and 'idiocies'. Would either of those words work for you?
Ol' "Jiggletooth" and Ol' Yeller -- one in the same?
You mean the Big truck truckin' company with the notorious reputation for bad trainers?
Hmmmmmmm -------
What were they thinkin'?
You're mean.
How do you feel about New York City as a steady diet? And/Or, sitting for days in Barstow in the summertime, waiting for your next load?
CRST seems to have trouble promoting trainers -- while trainees are a dime a dozen. Whom do you reckon CRST would side with?
Just a thought I think I thunk.
BTW, aren't you afraid your nose would grow if you lied?
Folks have been peeing for thousands of years.
Best watch your foot when your mouth is running.
That's what I say --- only, I say it louder.
It's twue!
It's twue!
HeY!
It's the TRAINER'S Big truck -- NOT your's. And the bedroom goes with the Big truck.
I thought you told us you went with CRST?
Whatdja 'spect? Or, are you one of those newBees who didn't research the company BEFORE you signed the dotted line?
Unless they were the only company that would hire you -- YOU picked CRST!
You know, the company with one of the worst reputations for NOT having good trainers.
Here's YOUR sign ---> here.
$100,000?!!
And $50,000 trailers?!
Get real!
I think I'm beginning to get the bigger picture here.
I'm not your trainer.
Another trainee with vast knowledge.
In a previous post, didn't you say, "He literally was tossed into the trainer program the day after orientation ended ?
Are you telling us that "orientation" at CRST lasts for 6 months?
Man-0-MaN!
Their Big trucks really ARE slow.
"Irritated"?
NaW-- not in the least.
Are you?
BTW, a CDL-A does not a "professional" make. At best, you'd be a newBee rookie.
Don't worry though -- that happens to the best, too.
What were you saying?
Why doesn't that surprise me?
Know what else?
It wouldn't surprise me either, if you gave yourself a standing ovation.

Geez Aftershock, I think that means he's saying your like an idiot! Defined as:1.an utterly foolish or senseless person. 2.Psychology. a person of the lowest order in a former classification of mental retardation, having a mental age of less than three years old and an intelligence quotient under 25.
ROFLMAO
All depends on where you were when that imaginary "deer ran out in front" of you. Ain't too many deer in big cities these daze. They might require YOU to take a pee TEST, just to be sure you weren't in a fog.
Ahhh come on Aftershock, that's not true! My hubby and I went to see my in-laws who live in Chicago, we were in Morton Grove (Chicago suburb) on Church Street, right in the middle of the city and a big deer (honest, no lie, this is true), I mean big, with antlers even, came crashing right across the road in front of us, we almost hit it. Swear it's true!
BTW, aren't you afraid your nose would grow if you lied? Shux!
Folks have been peeing for thousands of years. Why do I get the feeling YOU weren't around in the 1960's? Not to mention the impression you just left on those Big truck truck drivers who were gittin' 'er done -- back in the day.
OMG! ROFLMAO! hahahahah!
Buckle up, buttercup. Just wait 'till you've driven Big trucks for a few years. You ain't seen NUTHIN' yet.
Ah come on Aftershock, take it easy on Felix! -
LOL!!! That was a very funny exchange. Aftershock, no mater which site you are on, you never disappoint.
-
Oh!
Well,............ in that case,.......... I guess the shoe fits.
I never claimed to be intalige, intelleg,..... intiligan,......uhhhh, smart. And I sure appreciate it when folks point out when I'm being dumb.
If not for them,...... how would I know?
Like my momma tol' me,.............
For every pro,
there's an equal and opposite con.
Or, sumthin' like that.
It's a memory thang,
doncha know.

Illinois would be the exception to the rule. I believe that. Why, just the other day, runnin' down the road in the city, right outside the tavern, I saw a couple of pink pachyderms, complete with tusks and a long hose for a nose.
Yes I did.
OMG! ROFLMAO! hahahahah!Click to expand...
WhAT?! You're not taking me seriously?
Hmmmmmmmmmm
Good for you.

And Felix is STILL puttin' a whoopin' on me. :smt062

But I think I should correct you, -- can't say "never" (disappoint). See,.......... sometimes, I
disappoint myself.
BTW: When you typed "site" -- did you mean 'side' instead? Or have you been to one of my other haunts?
-
I still say "Jiggle tooth" is funny. I had naked guy for a trainer myself(Not at CRST or Werner). I chalk it up to life's little amusements and occasionally will regale my students with stories of him. I am sure I do the occasional odd thing and hopefully it provides them a chuckle later on in life as they roll down some lonely highway.

Other haunts.

this thread still makes me laugh every time i get a reply notice.
