There are other ways to get training besides joining a mega? What are they?

    Call me crazy but.
    I like underdogs and comebacks.
I am not reading this whole thread.
I read most of the original post and.
    Ya know what?
I never knew there were such elitist truck drivers that's farts smelled like roses.
    That being said.
I am being scared and quitting before I start.
I will be ashamed and probably lose all my tuition but.
    Frankly.
I have read nothing but bad posts on this whole forum about the companies that will take the new drivers fresh outa CDL school.
    I thought better of truckers.
I guess I was WAY wrong.
And I am NOT talking about Werner.
I am talking about the OP who was making fun of homeless people and war vets.
~ Gamgee o_O doesn't care if you pile the hate on him for saying shame on you.

Ever since this thread was posted it has been thanked a whopping 562 times, which is probably an all time record for the forum, and yet it’s still bringing us to tears, literally, while we’re laughing our butts off-over 10 years after it was posted!!!

If B.B. King was still alive he would probably give the OP “Lucille” and tell him “Here driver-you need this a helluva lot more than I do!!”:laughing-guffaw:
Working for Werner is all but guaranteed to make some drivers sing the blues!!!!lol

I don't know what that is and. And. I don't drink. And I don't think it is funny to make fun of "homeless people, war vets with PTSD, and the mentally ill"
If it is the song "Lucille" I have heard of that. It sounds sad.
I am sorry if I do not understand the OP's intent.
    I am a different folk.
But I hope I can make it in this industry.
    I believe I can.
I have been told by anyone that meets me.
    Oh forget it.
I just feel blessed by most any opportunity I get to meet people and so far I haven't been disappointed.
~ Yes. Gamgee has a mission.

”Lucille” was allegedly one of B.B. King’s guitars!
    Lucille (guitar) - Wikipedia
The guitar(s) was the inspiration for the song.
And if you read the OP’s post-from BEGINNING to END-you would understand the dark humor/satire in the post.

There are plenty of schools that offer CFL training, and any of them worth their salt have placement programs in place. The drivers I know who went that route were placed in various segments. Oilfield, food service, p&d, etc.

Everything in life worth having has a cost. Pick any successful driver, there's plenty of blood, sweat, and tears over the years.

You'll find some who survived the mega route, but most will tell you that, as OP pointed out, there's a lot of #### going that way!

I am one of the mega survivors. I ended up doing quite well for myself. I don't know if I would have gone that route if not for Schneider's training program. I had heard very good things about it, so I gave it a shot. Overall I would say the good reviews were warranted.

Now that none of the megas are training drivers...I'm much less positive on them. I don't see the upside. Reimbursement on my schooling? Okay, or I could just look for a job that pays better, and pay for it myself that first year or two, and then get paid much better for the remainder of my time there. It's not like megas have a huge "we're not paying for your schooling anymore" raise in year three. Lol
