I am truly glad that you were able to get a laugh from that weirdness!

Now, for the love of God use everything at your disposal to dissuade your husband from joining Weiner. The company is such a joke that Weiner drivers are forced to run with their CB's off just to avoid the incessant insults and ridicule that blare non stop from the speaker.

To help you continue your research, do a Yahoo search on "Werner sucks".

All the best to you and your family,

Wow I guess i am lucky I was not bottom of Barrel. Werner turned me down. No tickets in 5 years, 1 Accident(Not my Fault) in last 20 years and they turned me down because I had 1 bad check i went to court and paid off. Wow guess I am truely lucky.

Yeah, while I was in school, we had the Big "Werner is The Best" Recruiter come by and tell us what we were all missing by not being at Werner and how we better work for Werner if we wanted a real future in trucking. No kidding, that's what he said. Everyone else was crap, except Werner. The schools' counselor was "encouraging" everyone to go with Werner from the day we walked in the door. When I turned in my Pre-Apps for 4 OTR companies and 2 local companies, the only thing he said was, "why haven't you applied to Werner?" I told him I would not work for Werner, JB Hurt, Not so Swift, CR England, Covenant or Stevens. I had heard way too many horror stories and talked to too many drivers. I told him that if none of the companies I applied for made an offer to me, then I would find my own darn job. I had previously researched KLLM, my first choice, along with Roehl, US Express, Interstate Distributors (who no longer has their training program), CTL and CFI / Conway. I figured those would be my best bets to start. KLLM sent me a pre-hire, and I did a couple of follow up calls and I'm scheduled for orientation. Looking foward to it, with no over-expectations, a good attitude to learn and put up with some things if need be. I'm flexible and easy to get along with. But I'll be danged if I'm going to let someone bend me over and poke me, like some of you guys had the unfortunate experience of having. I have high hopes for KLLM, but also understand, it will not be heaven. Meanwhile, several of my classmates have signed on with Werner and Swift. I hope they can make good of it.

    Me too, too many times.
And that was back in the day.
    YuP!
    YuP!

I remember askin' 'em to define "crap" ---
when they weren't willing to divulge that answer,
I figured I knew what they mighta been full of.
Any possibilities the counselor and the recruiter were drinkin' buddies ---- AFTER hours, of course.
Some might say "perks" while others might say "kick-back".
And a rose is a rose.
You're sayin' that the school's counselor wondered why you hadn't applied? .......
    Hmmmmmmm
I'da asked him if he had the best knowledge of what's up in the truckin' industry.
    And figure he'd say "yes".
If so, I'da asked why a student should be explaining it
    to HIM?
Somthin' ain't Kosher in Denmark and I think I smell a rotten fish in the apple barrel.
But, when thangs don't make any sense, ----- follow the
    Money Trail.
Why would a counselor knowingly provide bogus information, if not for the money?
It sure wasn't for the students.
    #####!
    Someone who thinks for themself?!
    Imagine that!
    Good for you.
    See!
People CAN learn from other's mistakes.
It'd be nice if y'all would keep in touch and compare notes.

From how you've described yourself here, I'd hire you in a heartbeat.
    Unfortunately, I don't own a truckin' company.
    Big OR small.

    Excellent post --- IMO. :yes2557:
    Thanx.

OMG Later Dude that was funny as h#*l. I was suppose to go to Werner but changed my mind at the last minute. The Recruiter told me I'd start out at a higher rate than .26 cpm. So I'm going with someone else. Hang in their dude. You'll make it.
