Later Dude- Thanks so much!! That was one of the funniest things I have read and after reading so much on this site recently, you may not realized how you found the humor in a bad situtation!!

When i was in CDL school "Werner" used to recruit there, and the recruiter they sent well.................Lets just say the only shiftier one was "Swift".

This guy spouting the awesomness of "Werner" and that driving for them beat going to heaven when you die!!

I just sat there knowing several truck drivers who have driven for several companies and themselvs in the past and had pretty much figgured out trucking was at best what you make of it, at worst dissapointing sometimes and sometimes you feel like there was nothign else you'd rather do....You know kinda like any other job you'll have in life.

So i saw through the bovine expelled cremation of field grass and went somewhere else.....U.S. Xpress......They did not tell me i'd need documentation of a sleep study for my physical(the quack at my CDL school never asked for one either) so i just didn't know, my stupidity got me sent home from orientation with the admonishment i could try to hire on again in 30 days, when i decided to go with another company U.S. Xpress decided it was all fittign and proper to go back and change my DAC from Quit or Dissmissed from orientation to "FIRED!"

So chalk up another comapny whio is both dihonest and not concerned about their people, but just want warm bodies to move freight.

I remember what my family elders used to say, if it sounds too good to be true....you are about to be date raped!!! The Werner Recruiter sounded liek he was about to make the attempt to "Date rape" me!!!

Well, the "TMC" recruiter was funny, he stood up in front of everyone(I am LARGE land mammal and pretty much figured for myself that trying to squeeze into a Peterbuilt 379 was a excercise in futility, but to make a joke this guy stands up in front of 40 other trianees and says "Everyone looks good in a shiny black chormed out Peterbuilt...........Except maybe him!" and points at me directly, so without missing a beat i acted liek i was looking through his brochure(THey had already turned down my pre hire) and said looking right at him...................."Aw, thats alright, because my instructors here said not to go with a company that offers LOT LIZARD reimbursements, as they too desperate for drivers!" I thought the school director was going to pass out he was so mad at me putting the Stand up comedian(Aren't all recruiters) in his place in front of the rest of the students. SORRY, BUT I WON'T BE PATRONIZED BY ANYONE LIKE THAT!!

Anyway, i checked back with the school, they hired 20 drivers out of the crew that was there, only to promptly eliminate all of them but one from driving for them.

I must say, later dude...I wish you had 50 post count so you could PM. By far, the best post I have ever seen on this forum!
I had tears and red face at full glow. My wife thought I was choking!

Ahh the cheese...the cheese. Recently spent weeks with a guy who wanted to change clothing once a week so he would not have to do laundry. I know your pain man. The cheese. Ow, the cheese.

AFAIC, ALL trainers should be required to shower and change all clothing (except coat perhaps) once every 48 hours. I would say 24, but any of us who have run a bit, knows you cannot always hit every day. If I wrote the rule, it would say "every 24 hours if schedule allows, NEVER under any circumstances to exceed 48 hours without showering."

I qualify as an "orca" but I do NOT smell. There are times I shower 2 times in 16 hours. I am not above washing PAB's with fresh shirt and underwear, too. If you have beef, you need to do what it takes NOT to offend.

I actually have worked on a case where a guy my size claimed that the company was violating the ADA when they transferred him out of working with others cause he stank and was overweight. In the hearing, it was quite obvious why they shipped me in to represent the agency. I outweighed him by a good 50 pounds. I won the hearing and the ADA was saved another embarrassing tangle in the courts.

Some people can be pretty ###### common.

If any of you get stuck with a nasty trainer, ask a janitor for a urinal cake and open it...then set it on the dash. Maybe he will get the message.

:biggrin_25516: I am glad he posted this, people should know what they are in for. It is pure laziness that he wouldn't take a shower and brush his teeth. No one should be subject to infections due to lack of respect. I cant go into a dinner and sit next to people like him (men and women, alike)
If you want to be like that , you should not be training or even be allowed to work in public. Go sit in your moms basement and work for a #### call center. He has a right to complain and should report the pig. If he would not take care of himself , who is to say he is even safe to be out there driving - he has no respect and concern for himself so why would he for others around him. Sounds like he might even have some very serious mental issues. It is plain rude and selfish to be that way. And as for getting after this trainee for complaining , why get after him he had the right and it is funny as hell? Are you one of these nasty trainers??? He did not sign up for a hog farm or work for the CDC, he is a driver and works with the public. If this Pig wants to train, aren't they required to up keep themselves to keep a good company image and sign an agreement of the sort.... Keep up the writing " Later Dude" write more of your experience on here, we all need it :biggrin_2559::mlaugh:

I couldnt agree with you more! in my early days of over the road with FFE, i drove for a Contractor/owner. we ran hard and this guy was a PIG and had no self esteem at what he looked or smelled like. i have never been like this We layed over at a motel for a weekend and while we were checking in, a couple whispered to each other (They are filthy) we were. that embarrased me and i was pissed. from then, every time he turned the truck over to me to drive, the first truck stop that had showers, i was in one! i got my shower every or every other day. If you feel trucking should be associated with a lack of personel Hygiene, then you need to check yourself!!!

There is NO reason to smell. Even if you do not have a shower, a bar of Ivory and a gas station bathroom with a washrag...and you will not smell.

Later Dude, I am very serious about this. I think we both have good writing capabilities and we both definately have a similar sense of humor. My experiences in two previous careers and in life, in general, could fill a book but since two heads are better than one there could be a much better paying job in writing for both of us should we collaborate. With my experiences as a carpenter for 26 years (try eating your lunch while the port-o-san man sucks #### out of the honeybucket and exclaiming "Hey, I like it!!" while the rest of them are running for the woods to keep from puking while the tears are running down your face) or my experiences driving a cab for 12 years in Tucson ( imagine being baptized by a very large glassy-eyed man, who forgot to take his medication, with a 32 oz. cup of water, that could have just as easily been battery acid, while being renounced as a disciple of Satan and sitting in your cab minding your own business) or trying to drive while the rancid "Au de feta" is being picked out of the rolls of hardened blubber along with the secretion of the lost blood worm that found its way into the long forgotten navel (or other orifice) of the 400 lb. (that's each) couple sitting in the back seat while they were fishing on that hot July afternoon over a year ago. Yes, there has got to be money in this. Either way, there's got to be more than a new driver is making in the present trucking industry. Let me know here if you're interested. Quite seriously, Twisted turtle
