and this in response to?
Anyways I see you are new to the TTR (but not driving) but Welcome to you! This is an interesting place indeed! -
So yeah...after two weeks of having Werner Recruiting telling me that my application has been through the review board, and everything was copacetic, I found out today that my recruiter never actually ran my app past the board. And yeah, I got turned down. So now I gotta see if my temp agency can take me back. To the newbies, never believe you are set to go until you actually have the travel arrangements made to go to orientation. And understand that you are not actually hired until you actually get the keys to your first assigned truck after training. That is all.
sammycat Thanks this. -
sorry 'bout that brsims- can you apply any place else besides Werner?
You are right that until you get the keys you are not hired-hubby saw a bunch in his orientation class sent home each day. Even then you still had to wonder until you heard from and then MET your trainer at the truck. -
Werner was my last chance for the year. I've got some minor screwups from 2008, and I'm still trying to get away from them. I'll try again next year, but I can garauntee that Werner ain't gonna see my happy tail feathers again. I'll run for J.B. first. I understand that recruiters lie about pay and miles and whatnot, but this is the first time I've ever had a recruiter lie to me about doing their friggin' JOB! I thought I did everything right, too. Called, called again to follow up, stayed in contact, the whole nine yards. The only part I missed, apparently, was moving to Omaha and doing the work for my recruiter! Rat-Barstud! OK, rant over.

Man that really bites- sorry again! What about local like class B stuff-construction, delivery etc? Or is that what you're doing now?
-
I'm gonna go drop a few apps local. Not gonna last too long, though. The local outfits around here aren't what you call the greatest when it comes to equipment maintainence, and PennDOT already has them in the iron sights, as it were.
sammycat Thanks this. -
by the end of my training to get my cdl, i only had about 25 hours of actual driving on the roads in minimal traffic. When you started with werner, on my second day, we hit gridlock traffic in green bay on top of pouring rain. My trainer expected me to be able to handle myself in that kind of situation right off the bat. I dont think a trainer should expect that from someone who has had minimal training in a truck.

I've heard some good stories before, but this one is by far the best! You gotta love a good fiction story now and then.
