I've meet A LOT of ex- rocket scientists/doctors/lawyers/ supreme court justices' while driving OTR. They all looked like the guy the O/P described though.

No, but I did have an ex Russian/Soviet LT Commander that served on a submarine during the 1980's. He was a student of mine when I taught at a truck driving school. I think he went to work for Swift.

I would say the quickest way to find out if this guy was a SEAL is to find out what BUDS Class he was in! When you start asking those types of questions which can be verified people start to stuter step. I have also found that there are those that do and those that talk about doing!
