:biggrin_25524: Wow, that is really not being trained, I am sure some if not many are okay with that, but, I want to be well trained.

I am glad I avoided werner and the other training companies and went with a smaller company and received good training. :yes2557:

It was actually to my benefit that I was rightout of school and had 0 training or experience. They told me they would rather hire someone with no training and train them right, than hire someone who has been poorly trained and try to re-train them and get rid of the bad habits they developed. :biggrin_25513:

I will say this though, that usually happened on long stretches of interstate. When we would hit a city and traffic,he would come up front. He said i had the driving down,so he wasn't too worried.Said i was one of a couple of students he could actually sleep while the student drove.

That makes no sense whatsoever, sir. Do you really think trainers do this for free? They're being paid for every mile the truck rolls, PLUS the company is paying your training pay. Wouldn't it be cheaper just to, i dont know, pay two drivers for half the miles each?

I also logged 145 hours of 140 hours but i went solo in september, and things seem to be slowing down a little...

Edit: There's a better conspiracy theory than yours: When you team up total strangers on an equal basis, they get into fights and you end up with abandonment. If one of them has power over the other, normally they get along a little eaiser. Also, its easier for a trainer to deal with a student than a codriver because they know its for a finite period of time. This is why i will never team drive but i will consider being a trainer later.

I am a trainer. I also went through training during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. As such I know that trainers put up students in motels paid by Werner over any holidays that the trainer has taken hometime during. Depending on who you get for a trainer you may find that you are able to go home for a quick break, but you can't count on that at all. I was going to fly home during the Christmas holiday when I was training but we did not get to hometime until the evening before the holiday, and with airlines the way they are you would end up sitting in an airport all break. But as a trainer I know that I myself, as well as other trainers invite their students to spend the holidays with the trainer's families. If you go home and take PTO during the holidays you will loose out on the bonus, and everyone at any terminal will try and talk you out of taking any leave of absense. So the question you have to ask yourself is how important is the holiday to you? As far as how long it will take to train. That depends on the trainer. You have to do so many hours of observation in the first three days (Phase 1), the second (Phase 2) is not only hours but time on the truck. You have to be on a minimum amount of time, as well as complete 125 hours total on line 3. I hope you meet up with a good trainer and enjoy your training and have a good holiday.

thinking of werner or millis transfer, now i do now about (millis) work there back in 96 to 98, i went to werners web site it says over the road 48 state average miles per trip is 750 and up, that got my eye, not regional, here in pittsburgh, so how much drop and hook do they do and if i'm based out of springfield,oh terminal cause that closer than allentown,pa. would i be going to the west coast then back, NO DOLLAR GENERAL OR FAMILY DOLLAR STORES just over the road, thanks

Right now I'm stuck # a motel for idk how long, been 3 days already. I have only a few hrs of driving left & I'll be halfway done w/training. If I were to quit and go home now, or finish the few hours & go home for the 7 days to never return will it go on my dac? Will I still get my 7 days pay from Werner, if I decide not to return? I did want to make it home for NYE, I'd like to hurry & drive those 9hrs and call my SDM & tell them to send me home for my break.

Oh and just to mention, my first 20 days I was only allowed to shower once a week, and I've only backed 3 times. My trainer is terrible. If this is what trucking is about then I don't want any parts of it. It feels like a hillbilly boot camp! She told me that using a GPS was a bad idea & I shouldn't use Werner's directions either. YET she uses GPS on her phone everyday, & she hasn't taught me how to read an atlas. She said CBs are terrible, YET I overheard her telling her bf that she wants 1 for Xmas...I'm sick of being steered wrong. She said she actually only makes $6.10hr! There's no way I'm gonna stick around and drive up and down mountains & steep grades in terrible weather for chump change & w/half ##*ed training!

I had a job call me for an interview days before I came out here. I think I'll give them a call as soon as I get home. I just had to come out here and experience it for myself. I really thought it would be better than this. Is it really worth it? Does it get better? What do I have to look forward too? People pay/owe thousands of dollars just to come out here & barely make ends meet?? I just don't get it...:biggrin_25512:

Ha.. at least you got to back as much as you did. My first trainer let me back ONCE on my last day in the back row of a truck stop, and we showered less often than you on FLATBED! Thankfully I was a mechanic back home and knew how to take a ##### bath, but I can see how a shower a week might irk a lady. I hear horror stories from female trainers that lose their students in showers at fuel stops on J/T loads...
