It's a matter of perspective. What we see as pennies to them is a fortune compared to where they came from and how they used to live. But they also don't realize just much more they could be making.

Back when I worked in warehouses I had a lot of foreign coworkers.
Was talking with one guy who claimed he was here on a visa and sent most of his paycheck back to his family who lived wonderfully off (what we see as) a measly US$100-200 a week.

Well per Swift / Knight, according to the professional reporting on freight issues and trucking at large, the sky is falling. Impending DOOM due to low freight, low rates, and lack of drivers.

But Werner posted an almost record profit for the same period.

Now if I were to venture a guess, I'm not edujimicated man now, but if I were to venture a guess, I'd say when you put profit in front of practice, things get afu.

Now who would be most responsible for the company's policies/ doctrine???

Werner has a lot of locked in contracts.
Cl Werner invested in a lot of companies over the decades and is on BOD's so he was able to direct contracts his way.

As a training company they have lots of entry level low pay drivers to use to help maximize profit.
Each one is several months from health insurance and 401 match, more money saved.
No longevity pay that other companies have.
