If do do decide to go with Werner, do some searches on here for "Dollar General" and read up on being dedicated to that account. Super tight lots, lots of cars and little experince = a lot of drivers getting fired after having a few incidents/ accidents while trying to deliver. And then not being able to find another job because of it.

Best bet for weekly hometime is regional flatbed, like with Maverick or TMC. Werner does sometimes have weekly hometime but usually those are Dollar General type accounts which are not recommended for a new driver. You can make pretty good money doing that but as a new driver you will very likely hit stuff in these small parking lots and be out of a job and not hireable by any other truck company either. Best wishes!

Ask to be put with this trainer. The people who say it’s a good company need to do a search on here, 21 pages that don’t necessarily agree.

So you're pushing for a company you've NEVER driven for?

OP, do yourself a favor and avoid the megas. I'm parked next to a Werner driver who just told me he has to stay out for a minimum of two weeks. Also, if you ignore the sound advice given to you by the guys that have "been driving ten twenty thirty years who’s bragging on some company no one has ever heard of that he hates" do not come back here crying about how you got burnt. You will get zero pity. This place has more information that you could ever need about nearly anybody. Do your homework.

Tell us where you live (city/state) and we can give you recommendations. @Chinatown hopefully will chime in with some good recommendations. Needing more hometime you want regional or local work.
