I am happy that the right, and objective decision occurred here. I feel bad for the children that were hurt, and I believe 1 got killed; however, I'm not a fan of monetizing a tragedy, especially if the one filing caused the tragedy. This was the right call. Kudos to the Texas Justice system.

The driver deserves to be reimbursed for everything he lost, and by no one other than the parasite who tried to ruin his life.
@brian991219 You may wish to see this next time you’re on here.Gearjammin' Penguin, drvrtech77, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this. -
This is the best news this Industry has gotten in a couple years... as much as I think mega companies are destroying this Industry, I'm really glad to see the right decision prevail for once.. Good for Werner for keeping fighting after all these years.
bzinger, 201773, mjd4277 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm glad to see I was wrong. After the appellate ruling it looked like werner was screwed (IIRC, even the dissent said Werner was liable, just not to the tune of $100 million).

Hallelujah… Finally a court that has some common sense… Hopefully this sends a lot and clear message that these kind of lawsuits are not gonna go anywhere

Greedy plaintiffs...you just know Werner offered to settle at some point...

As a carrier I’d have instructed all my drivers to follow Texas law and get off the interstate at first opportunity. Had Werner followed Texas law they never would have put themselves in the position of being sued.
Calling the suit frivolous is just pure ignorance.
I personally never gave an opinion on the subject other than explaining the legal merits of the case.
I do suspect that some would be singing a different tune if it was a white Volvo pulling an Amazon trailer. Same ones that’ll excoriate anyone who to them isn’t acting safety. It’s almost as if the politics of the situation matters more than common sense
Fact is Werner shouldn’t have been out there and missed plenty of opportunities to exit the interstate. Had they followed the law the deceased would still be alive today..just facts from the case.
We as drivers are expected to act professionally and drive responsibly not pick and choose which laws we follow and ones we ignore.
Would be nice to hear from an actual current Werner driver in regards to any policy change about driving on ice.. I suspect they made major changes to it.
Anyway the score stands at 2-1
Makes me laugh when someone repeats the saying they rather be tried by a jury of twelve than…yada, yada.gentleroger Thanks this. -
Greedy? Awards are designed to hurt and teach a lesson so to speak. Of course a multi billion dollar corporation is going to see a higher award than a million dollar corporation.gentleroger Thanks this. -
Her logic, in this case, saying that Werner should’ve never been there is the most dumbfounded thing she could’ve said, because if Werner should not have been there, she should not have been there either especially driving as recklessly as she was…
Woobie, buddyd157 and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this.
