As a father, I want to think my kids are perfect, I'm proud of them, I'd take a bullet for them, etc... but I was brought to reality after talking to my oldest son about 3 years ago - I put him through automotive technical school, he did well, and moved to OKC, near his sister.
His sister's mom (my ex) got him a job at a Ford dealer. Worked well, but he wasn't much for authority.. and was "let go". Went to a Dodge store... same thing happened after a few months. Finally went to a mom and pop shop, and butted heads with the old guy who was set in his ways... I always argued with my son, saying sure, he may be a jerk, but it's HIS shop, you do things HIS way. He quit.
He called me whining that things weren't fair, yada, yada, yada... and I told him that I've always been supportive of him, without fail, but I had a question for him... and I didn't want him to answer ME.. I wanted him to ask himself the question when he's in front of the mirror. Seriously, did his attitude have something to do with the job hopping and getting fired, not getting along with people?
He called about a week later, said yes, his attitude had gotten in the way, and he's now been at Hobby Lobby for over 2 years, doing well, runs a division for electronic/hydraulic lift and conveyor maintenance, loves it.
A full-blown metal head, plays bass with a big local band, in a hard-core Christian organization. Interesting.
That said, I can't help but wonder, with how protective dad is in this scenario, just how much the kid had to do with getting dumped. There are several road tests with each phase of training, you fail one for any reason, and you're done - that concept is NOT new to the business, nor is it discriminatory.
Have the young man look for another job and press on. Seems like dad just wants him home... let him go, dad..he's grown, and doesn't need babysitting anymore - kick him out of the nest.

Is that how you operate your company?
No it is not how I run my outfit , but you fail to realize that WERNER has more people telling 1 thing then another following up on what was to be done. I find it hard to believe someone told him WATCH a few VIDEOS and we will pass you , next day here is your ticket. Either its BS or someone failed to tell the other about the deal.
I got rid of a young driver recently for the SIMPLE reason , his MOMMY was running / controlling his life and it was directly affecting his work .
I pay off the hub , BILLYBOB was sent to a customer , 600 mile round trip . MOMMY called and told me he had better get paid for the 572 MILES that she figured out and he better not be CHEATED like other TRUCK DRIVERS get CHEATED.
She called because he had not been PAID , his check never arrived , informed her it was DIRECT deposit.
The kid turned into a nervous wreck and a total GOOF OFF , seems MOMMY did everything for him but wipe his BUTT, talked to a friend of his , seems MOMMY had been doing this all his life , told me to ask the kids EX WIFE.
He was dispatched to leave at 5 PM on a Sunday , truck / trailer all set for him , still sitting in the yard 8 AM Monday.
MOMMY decided he needed to go to a HOCKEY GAME on Sunday night. No phone call , nothing ( UNHAPPY CUSTOMER ) as he had worked so hard the week before ( 2000 miles )
She had been looking for a LOCAL job for him , as it was too much running regional. -
Wow, some people's kids. I swear.
If I ever go back into driving, I want to work for/with someone like you. Seriously. -
Sunday night hockey games are pretty awesome though...

Fulfilling the commitment you made to do a job can be PRETTY AWESOME as well.
U4EA and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
I have 3 boys, they are all having a hard time getting decent jobs. One has a good Union gig w/ state pension & benies,my twins have Class A's one is headed to the army perhaps can use his CDL or fire fighter certfications to get a decent MOS. The other the one who got the Blue screw, has had 3 jobs in 3 years, first got laid off from his $21 per HR position in my NJEA support staff union when $4 million was cut from our BOE. Next he got 2 months at $14 HR at a lumber yard and was cut when business fell off;they said they said they want him back if business improves. Now it's Werner 3.5 months and he's out. It's frustrating for me to watch because the game there is rigged. Did I mention that he had no tickets,no accidents and was already tested and assigned his truck. He admits he should have seen the stop sign but at 3 am in the morning it was foggy out and he was focased on the red light ahead, lost and looking for the terminal entrance. The part that he can't understand is when they tested him how could they pass him then fail him 2 hours later , when the examiner admitted the brakes were a lot different than the truck he had trained on and drove for 3.5 months and took some time to get used to.What ever, he will have a better job soon, he just wants to warn drivers watch your back at the terminals or you will find a knife in it.

In my opinion this quote sums up why he got fired. It has nothing to do with hard brakes or anything else. Yes I think they may have done a poor job in the execution of the termination, but I feel they were just in doing so.
Just so you know the driver of the truck that topped this trailer saw the sign that said 12' 8" but was focused on the bridge further ahead and not the one right in front of them.Attached Files:

You are as entitled to your opinion as we are to ours. He's not going to dwell on it,has 2 leads to check out next week,he's a go getter and isn't as POed about it as I am.He's happy to be home and see his GF and his dog, I think he missed the dog more than the GF lol.
