TransAm is a good starter company. Nice trucks. Just dont fall for the Lease program. Go company. Every truck has APU, refrigerator, 1500 watt inverter, and auto shift. They have a Terminal right there in Rockwall. After a 3 day oriantation and out 10 days with a trainer you will be in a truck on your own.

I avoided the big training companis when I first started, got on with a small family owned company and it did not go well, so, I went with Werner, I am just finishing up my training.. I started with Werner January 1, 2014 and so far I am very pleased.. Orientation went well and I was impressed with it, I went right from orientation onto the trainers truck, and I have been getting plenty of good training and experince, I drive about 8 or 9 hours a day, we do a lot of drop and hook, so I get to back up about 4 or 5 times a day either at a shipper/receivers or a truck stop.
With the small family owned company I had to fight for my pay check, I was supposed to be paid thursday evenings, but, rarely did it ever happen on time without me asking two or three times.. With Werner my paycheck has been there on time everytime, and it is what thy said it would be and what I was expecting.. no nasty less mony than I thought surprises...
Werner has a lot of support for their trainee's and their drivers, My SDM has been great.. Driver Placement has already got m on one of the dedicated accounts I was hoping to get on.. so, as soon as I am done with training, I will be tested, assigned my truck and get to take my truck home for a few days of hometime and get moved in to it and set up.. then, I start on my dedicatd account..

The only bad thing I have found with Werner is all the negativity from non werner or ex werner drivers... now, I can't promise that it will go as well for you as it has me, but, the reverse is also true, no one can promise that it won't go well either...

Werner had nice equiptment, so you wont be assignd an old beatup truck, you will be assignd a truck that is maybe a couple years old... now, that doesnt mean it wont have issues, even new trucks can have issues, but, if it has a lot of issues werner will giv you another... Which for me was and is a plus.. I was in a 9 year old Pete with the small family owned company and in three months time had to be pull startd 6 times, was stuck on the side of the road for 17 hours until the drive/mechanic could gt there and get is running.. well, limping along anyway.. only to have it stall halfway in the doc at a Menards, where it had to stay until the next aftrnoon.. needles to say menards was not happy and I had to pay for a hotel to stay for the night as menards cant lt a driver stay all night in the doc...

With Werner, I don't have those issues and I like that about them, so I will take the jabs from the drivers who don't like Werner or other big companies...

I called a Werner recruiter in Dallas yesterday. He told me that Werner does not train people. They hire out of a driving school. I'm a little confused by this. Maybe I am confusing post driving school training? I think I really want to go to Warner but I am having a difficult time navigting the process. I have me Class A CDL with all endorsements. I just got it on my own. I just studied the material, took some online practce tests, and rented a semi-truck with trailer to take the driving test. No I can't get hired. I looked into Steven's Transport but thought ~ $4,200 dollar financial contract for their driving school was too much money to pay for a $0.26/mile job. It seemed to me to be preditorial pricing on their part. I mean, how good could the training be if your only worth 26 cents? Do you have any contacts at Werner that I can talk to? Were you hired after graduating from a trucking school?
