    Hi wildeyes,

I am presently employed by Werner. All I am going to say is this. I started the first of April. Went to orientation, got assigned a trainer that couldn't speak english, literally and requested another trainer....after ONE WEEK, yes 7 days, of sitting in a hotel waiting for a trainer, my phone finally rang. I had received my second trainer. I went on the road with her for 7 days and requested time home....unpaid. They are so unorganized that I just couldn't take it anymore. While I was on the truck with her, we sat in New Mexico for 2 days with no load. And I know that with any company you are going to run into delays like this. We finally got a load, headed out and had 3 flats on the trailer in Texas. We sat on the side of the road for hours (I think it was close to 9 hours) before someone came to help us. After that is when I requested time home. After requesting time home, they sent us to New York then to Pennsylvania. I had been away from home for 3 weeks and only on the road one. It would have taken forever to get my training hours finished at this rate. I was finally able to get off the truck and come home and still haven't gone back out. In my opinion, all companies have their good points and bad points. It's like my trainer told me....it just depends on which lie you want to tolerate from which company.

    No.

However, like I said, I took the time to do research.

I got online (forums, blogs and rip-off sites) and I talked to friends.

I talked to one friend daily while he was talking to a Werner Rep.... the Rep was really interested in my friend.... but every time I had him ask the Werner guy a valid question my friend got the run-around.... the final straw was when my friend asked for an advance copy of the contract he would be signing at orientation..... the Rep said "sure, no problem" and never came back.

I have even talked to truckers at a couple of our truck stops and then of course there is the CB in my truck........ you guys can be brutal to those poor saps in powder blue :biggrin_2559:

I also have to say, when people get broken down so low that they HAVE to laugh at the situation just to stay sane you need to pay attention. :biggrin_25513:

I could post dozens of links for you but just search this site.............. a few of my favorites are "Friends, don't let friends drive Werner," "Werner, Just Say No!," "Why my life sux," "Werner, You Can't afford It" and of course, "Werner: BE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAID."

If you want a good laugh/cry try this one:

There is just no excuse these days not to do your homework!

  4. An Absolute awful company to be associated with. It is but a driver mill. I reported my trainer for doing a u-turn in Chicago and I was terminated. Asked for a letter of termination stateing a reason for my termination and was refused that courtesy saying it was company policy. Werner is making a whole lot of cash using trainees as team drivers. Werner cares is a slogan meaning Werner cares only about itself. The training program is extremely dangerous. Trainers are not properly screened and how on earth can someone with as little as 6 months driving experience be considered for trainer.

Are you kidding? they left you hanging that long without pay? that's crazy! my b/f is currently into his training now and all i know is the night before last he got some sleep and had to be up at 5 a.m. yesterday morning and did computer classes and some other stuff until late last night..he did not get to sleep until about 1:00 a.m. and woke up at 5 a.m. again to head back to werner...everytime i talk with him he is yawning and i know he will push himself to the max until he falls over.

so im curious to know if while you were left hanging without a load for two days and what did you do with yourself for all that plus the nine hours you had to wait also? no pay and nothing to do? i think that really sucks and im sorry it happened to you...do you happen to know if male students/newbies get male trainers or female trainers?

I work for Werner, and despite a few problems that I am sure would crop up anywhere, I am fairly happy. I got most of what they promised, miles, the pay is lower then other places but they pay it. Never had an issue with reimbursments home time is easy to get and they keep the truck fixed mostly. They won't fix my darn front mirror, until I get to a terminal though :biggrin_2557:

welll I have worked for werner two times now. The first time I left because of low miles and not getting me home. The second time I did pretty good but I left for a job with better pay. Now I am going back because the job with better pay Hirschbach motor lines would make you run over hours and no one else will take me because unbeknown to me werner put a jacknife on my dac. No I did not in anyway jacknife a truck
I simply reported a dent and now werner is the only co that will hire me so back I go and am hopeing for the best.

Have you tried to get your DAC corrected? There IS a process for that - and if you can't get it corrected, they at least have to record a rebuttal from you.
