I would like to add that I've spoken to multiple people who are doing just fine on the Choice program. My problems are my own, and I think they are basically some inexperience, some bad luck, some screw ups on customer and Schneider's part.... all combined. I know I've been working my ##### off, and I've gotten some ok weeks. But when it fails, it can be bad. The truck's running good, the maintainance has all been easy to deal with, etc. The truck has warranty up the ##### so the repairs have been all on warranty. I do want to note that anyone who does get a truck from SFI, look it over good, even if they hurry you. ANY body work problems should be documented at the beginning (and photographed) check skirts, fairings and mounts etc. If the grill is ruined, have them fix it. Mine got a new one from the start. If the tires are wearing weird, get an alignment and make sure they put new tires onit. they will fix it. I'd also like to recommend getting a diesel APU although a lot of the trucks don't have them, only Electric. My electric is barely adequate. Lots of idle time as a result in this hot weather. I would like to reiterate that the ICA/ICR's have been overall pretty dang good, its just this last little bit that is frustrating.... and I guess its partly my part for spending more than I should on eating out instead of buying at Walmart and eating in truck. You spend a ton of money if you eat at the truck stop every day.
I have been following several threads on this site of guys who signed on to IC Choice, including yours. Very educational and encouraging. Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and your honesty. Keep up the good work!
THANK YOU! This is going to sound pretty sad but I had been searching the wrong search terms when looking for a contact at Schneider. I was searching for 'IC Choice' when I should have been searching for 'Owner Operator'. Had no idea they were one and the same.
Man, sorry that youre having such a string of bad luck. I have been running the west coast (mainly I5) for the past 2 weeks, after being on the east coast since january and it is a night and day different and I hate it. Very inefficient runs. All live loads and unloads. Limited freight, and crap miles. I'm company, not I/c.
Well, they released some money to me today, as my IC sign on bonus is pending.... but found out that I had to talk to recruiting to find out what is going on with it. Turns out someone put the 5k sign on bonus in the system as a 3k bonus, so they've been doling it out differently than they were supposed to. The recruiter said she wished I'd called in earlier (I do too) and she didn't even call me back from my message, she immediately called her supervisor, got everyone going on it, and had a resolution within hours. Instead of the smaller 600$ I was getting, they say they'll deposit 1600$ next week followed by 1600$ in august, giving me all of it. Pretty darned happy with the treatment I get from the people working there. I had a long talk with my head dispatcher also, and she said they could release some money to me if I needed it this weekend (before the pending bonus showed up, releasing the whole advance as a result) and talked to me about ways of improving my income. She was very nice... in fact everyone there has been great. Sometimes operatings stuff doesn't always fall right, but the staff is pretty good at fixing things that happen.... the hold times are sometimes long, but at least the calls are usually effective for me when I finally get through. Well, off to the showers....
It's good to hear some positive news about the SNI staff outside of us wonderful, considerate, helpful, loyal, hard working, compassionate, truthful, honest, mechanically inclined, computer whiz, straight talking.....what was I saying...?????? oh yea It's good to hear good news.
One can request anything they desire........of course there's appropriate forms that need to be filled out in triplicate as well as evaluations that need to be given and of course the standard lie detector test. Which if you haven't found out is quite scientific and accurate. It involves a Highly trained individual like myself administering it though but the short version is I or a trained person gets the driver in front of them and if the driver opens his or her mouth and any sound comes out they fail the test and are labeled a story teller..
