I got a dry load of canned goods in Lodi, CA to El Paso. Don't remember the name of the consignee, but was a grocery warehouse.I didn't even go inside; a lumper that lives in Juarez took care of everything; good experience considering it was a grocery warehouse.

Was it near the airport? The Mexican grocery store chain S-Mart has its Juarez distribution center in El Paso lol.

Large carriers have waves of trucks that hit a market and they can't load that many back out that fast. These waves come and go and much of it is just anomalies in shipping patterns that take up to several weeks to work out and get the national fleet back "in normal sync and flow".

If Walmart alone has a temporary setback (for any of several reasons/causes) on port shipments inland, this affects ALL the major dry truckload carriers for a time ... meanwhile for the smaller niche carriers, it's business as usual.

So, there could have been an unusual large number of trucks hit California in a given week, or, there could have been a temporary reduction of freight orders for Target and Walmart as they try and burn through summer inventory to make room for new fall items inventory.

Or, Swift could be the harbinger of things to come for all of trucking, all across the nation.

Don't know about the vans but flats have been having a hard time for 3 weeks now. The freight is there. The rates aren't. TQL is getting more populated on the board.
