I don't see how it can be broken into with all those trucks sitting in front staring at it. It has to be an inside job. People moving stuff around with the tractors themselves. Stashing it around while on test runs. I thought they had camera's all over the place. I know they have a few outside. I've seen them. Did they fire the camera watchers? :biggrin_2556:

Is Lawrence still there? In 3 years I never heard of theft being an issue at WM. I know that Wm overall was a high crime area but the term was pretty secure.

nowhere is as secure as you think, being broken into while no one was there in the middle of the night, mostly shop equipment from what I heard. also heard it will open monday morning but dont know for sure.

I would give you odds that those cameras don't even work. We may never know the full reason for this. But in all honestly if the shop management is gone most likely it's because of huge loses discovered during an inventory. My old carrier WSE had something like this happen last year at their Atlanta terminal. Major loses. I have a serious doubt it was from the outside. Tires and wheels are favorite targets. At Atlanta they found over $20,000 worth of tires missing. Several mechanics were fired as was their parts man.

Try again??? They would lose complete loaded trailers out of there often. Even when there was a guard at the gate. That has slowed down now because of the sky-blitz system being put on all trailers.

Yes the cameras work, I can tell you it was nothing to do with inventory, from what I have been told it was due to break ins, overall condition of shop, and a different direction corporate wanted to go with that terminal, I am sure we will see next week what memo will be sent out.

    J_FROG Thanks this.

So you get your information right from Van Buren before anybody else does? Honestly I have no idea whats going on in West Memphis and really don't give a tinkers ####. However I will say it again, if the shop upper management was fired it's most likely because of mismanagement. Their too low on the food chain to be setting company policy and just because the idiots in Van Buren want to go a different direction don't necessarily mean these guys have to go. I have been around trucking most all my life. I can tell you from experience coming from knowing mechanics most all my life. If the supervisory personnel are let go it's either because politics coming from a change at the top, or it's because of local problems like missing inventory. This happens everywhere. Like I said WSE had it to happen and if you could get honest information from other carriers you would see it. I want to remember Schneider firing a terminal manager in Pa many years ago over missing stuff. It's just part of the business. Employees steal! I also will say it again, given that drivers are in and out of that terminal 24/7 I have a serious doubt these loses are coming from outside. As far as the cameras go, like I said I still doubt there is any video coming from them. I know this because of a conversation I had with somebody at Van Buren back in 2011 coming from an issue I had. I can't and won't elaborate further.

well without elaborating I got my info from what VB said while they were at west memphis on thursday evening, what the true story is, I will never know. they let management go, so they say, because they are responsible for security at that terminal, but when you tell VB what you need to make it secure, they won't authorize you or aid to make it happen. not starting an argument just telling what was said while they were there. they also told all mechanics to go home and wait for call to come back to work IF they decided to open the shop, those calls were made friday after half of management was let go and were told they were going a different direction with the work that would be performed there going forward. also all the recovery drivers were there friday morning taking all the long term repair empty trucks to other terminals. believe what you will, this is just 1st hand knowledge of what went down.

Well, they were working 24 hrs. for awhile when I was there. Then they started closing them down at night. You watch. Van Buren will take a good thing like KC, back up and pi$$ on it. I don't think they know what they are doing. Usually you would have someone close, and can trust to handle a Hub like West Memphis.
