I worked there too. I lasted 7 months. It started out good OTR and then they went to that short haul stuff. .42/mile sounds good. But after repeatedly running 200-300 miles a day and 1700 miles a week. I was out of there. It's a good company for a lazy driver that is content with small checks. They haul alot of glass and forklifts that are blocked. You do alot of nail pulling. I didn't like my dispatcher either. He was a lead. Johnny Hehn? or something. Dispatcher with an attitude.
I hurt my back unloading that HON metal office furniture. I had to tailgate a load stacked three high. Some of that stuff weighs 300lbs. I went to the emergency room and they refused to file a workers comp claim and I had to pay the bill. After contacting the state of IA, they were threatened with a $10,000 fine and finally they got on the ball and the insurance company reimbursed me. That was the second time I filed a claim in my working life. I didn't like the bad attitude they had. They were more concerned not filing a claim over my well being. It wasn't long after that I quit.

I no longer work there at Westside, and you are right about that Safety director!!that guy doesn't know his blank from his blank and is also a very rude person. He has no respect for the drivers at all, I heard him say that the drivers do nothing but lie. He sits in his office and does nothing but look his nose down at the drivers, he could care less about you.
crosseye Thanks this. -
When you lose your job and are sick, you probably cant affrd cobra,For me, they wanted over $700 a month and that didnt cover anyone else in my family.
Oh BTW their orientation meals are sandwichs from a local sub shop -

Good for you guys who turned down WESTSTDE!!! I worked for them and they will screw you royally!!! Check my previous posts. They terminated me and never gave me a reason; I got my Dac Report and they put terminated "Violated Company Policy"have no idea what. In a way they did me a favor, got lucky and got a job six days later. They give you all these short runs , westside does, and they make promises during orientation that will not be kept, money is good but if you don't get the miles and sit it doesn't mean a darn thing. They talk a good game!!!!!!Money talks and BS walks!!!!!!Westside is all BS!!! Can't trust them!!!! Good Luck to all you Truckers out there!!!!!!We need more respect then what we get out there, especially by these companies that we work for, if it wasn't for us, they would not be in business!!!!!!
