They pay Practical miles, so you can figure a cent or two more on their pay compared to short mile companies.

I concur,
The equipment is second to none, the drivers seem happy and the pay is fair. -

I do know that they will have government mandated onboard data recorders by March 2011. That is on the FMCSA dot DOT dot GOV site. Look in the "news and updates" section. -
Western's armored pays extremely well, tough to get on with cause of the gun thing but great company from all I have heard and seen!!! There was a guy here in Fl. did that Craig's list thing looking for a co-driver too.

I worked for Western for a year and left when they closed down their Fontana yard. They are a great company with some of the best equipment on the road. Although if you work for them you gotta get used to running I 70 west of denver all the time and get used to chaining up. When i was there i usually picked up in Salinas, Yuma, or Los Angeles and then delivered to Denver, then i picked up at Coors Beer and delivered to points in California, New Mexico or Texas. I made good money there even though the pay was not high the trucks were wide open, not anymore though. Ive heard from freinds that work there now the DOT came down hard on them and theyve had to change alot of their outlaw ways. When i was there we had at least 3 safety managers come and go. Westerns the only company on the road that has trucks equipped with onboard scales for truck and trailer, gps, cb radio, fridge, espar heaters and xm radio. And all the chrome and chicken lights a wannabe super trucker could want. The engines used to be 550 acert c15 cats with 18 speed trannys, with 3.25 rears. I dont know what they got now. They had a lot of problems with the DPF Cats back in 2008, trucks breaking down all the time. Anyways i got my own truck now. The only Westerns i deal with are my 1 64th and 1 53rd scale Diecast Promotion and tonkin replicas diecast little collectable trucks.
