Lmao. I've drivin for western express before. Their so called driving school is just a one day refresher course if u pass their 3 day orientation. They take anyone from misdemeanor drugs to felonies after time served is pass 7 years old and outlaw drivers and of ppl who need a end chance fromhad 1 rollover or couple of incidents. They throw every one into the refresher course and got sign a 9 month contract at which 6 cents per mile comes out ur pay and if don't stay that whole 9 months, they take what money built up and they keep it so it pays them back on your refresher course, hotel and food bill. If stay the 9 months, they pay u that money back to u in one check. Their hotels they use are run down junk miles and miles away from the Nashville terminal with one bein no where near food places so to eat better. The hold orientation also at their Nazareth PA terminal which is nothin but a trailer and a 4 bay old truck/trailer repair shop from the 1960s on a dirt lot and share a drive way with aanother trucking company that is behind themthem and hotel in Easton is a lot better and around shopping. Never been to there California terminal. Flatbed are all 48 states. For van...if live on east coast u don't go pass the Mississippi river. On West coast, u stay west coast. Only time u see pass any of that is when in the truck with a trainer. If no experience or sum, they send u with a trainer for 4 weeks or more. If got experience or a rehire, u team up with another guy of experience or of a person that is a rehire and drive team for total of about 20,000 miles. I'm not sure if things have changed. Not all companies are meant for ppl...must try them out and see if u are a right fit for them and they are a right fit u. They never did me wrong and I never kissed no ones ### over their either. a lot of their problems are those young SMs they hire and not train right and they get smart mouth from being frustrated due to pressure. If they don't like u, they will starve u out of the truck. With them also is that it's what the trainer turns in on u as to what truck u get assigned. When I was their back in 2014, I had a brand New 2014 freightshaker and had only around 19,000 miles on it and it was spotless.

Just saw that when was looking through things. The post a lot everyday on the NC craigslist tranpostation for of hiring. Was looking and its weird the job listing search on their website www.driveforwestern.com (don't use the mobile web from cell sends u to a different website), it says that must live west of interstate 95, yet when was looking through craigslist and seen their hiring ads, they had been putting a hiring ad for around Jacksonville NC which is east of 95. They must be of doing that so to attract former and soon to be out going marines. They aren't a bad company just have to keep up with on your pay and of make sure when they send you your paystub by email, forward it to a trusting family member so they can print it out as proof of drive for them and tax purposes. sometimes have to fight get your money they try to shaft you out of like detention/layover pay (so to keep customers so they don't go for it on a drivers behalf but some companies will pay it and then the trucking company will keep it instead of passing on to the driver) and break down pay. They are quick to put on Qualcomm of pay for recovery of a truck when they know it's about time you come out of the trainers truck and truck the assign you to is sitting abandoned, or a trailer from a driver who broke down..especially of if the trailer is loaded. They have been good to me when I was with them and thinking of going back with them. Sent them a email to see on things...not sure if want to do their lease to own or company driver if I do go back with them.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
@JohnDoe 1979 seems you have a good attitude and pretty open minded. More and more companies are starting the lease to own program; must be a money maker for the company anyway. I was reading today about Carolina Logistics and Lobos Interstate Service which I hadn't heard about until recently. They don't have much detail about their program on the websites. Anyway, good luck and best wishes.
