I knew enough to stay away from Western X thanks to my roomie at Roehl, who had been at SMX at the buyout/takeover and saw them ruin the atmosphere. Additionally... and this might be our answer to OP's mystery... they BMI.

I was told not to apply by a recruiter, due to my weight. I am trying to flatbed to lose the weight, lady! Argh!

This happens at every company usually having something to do with an accident or CSA points.
There are certain things they cant check out until the person is physically there.
Its pretty stupid that the system is set up this way; it's a waste of time for everybody.

Does the dam joke have anything to do with beavers?

Listen!!!!! Ok. Lol. When you first make contact with a recruiter, ask questions, answer questions and BE POLITE. and BE HONEST. This weeds out potential problems all parties involved may have. I start out every one with the same spiel. I've been at Lessors for 5 years, but it never hurts to look

1.Hi how are you, then lame joke, then I'm Joe, I have 10 years exp, the last 6 with reefer/LTL/etc.... I'm interested in joining your company. I have a few questions if you don't mind.
    1. How much will you pay, what benefits do you offer, miles per week to be expected and running area
    2. Do you equip your trucks with APU units or do you have a program in place
    3. What is your hometime like, and how often.
    4. Do you have a pet/passenger program?
    5. Ask the recruiter to sell you the job without being dishonest and do it POLITELY!!!

Next ask about requirements, tell if you have recent tickets or accidents, sell yourself to the recruiter on why you'd be a perfect fit for the company. Lay it out what you are willing to do for them as an employee. This should just be a start, but it does stop some of the BS

Nashville, Tn. If you live in the south or on the I81/95 corridor you'd be set working for them. they'd have you home #### near every weekend. My whole problem was i live in Michigan and they don't have much freight up here. Grand Rapids, Detroit, Lansing are good areas in Michigan to live in if you wanna work for them and get home regular, but i'm way north of all those locations.
