Try to tough it out for a year. It is much easier when you're not cooped up with some Jughead.
One year experience is the magic number with a clean record. Take your time, money will come.
Try not to job hop. It's easy to start doing that. You'll find it's mostly the same BS with a different name on the door for companies that take green drivers.
All you do job hopping is hurt your chances of getting on with a good company.LilRedRidingHood, Gearjammin' Penguin, nredfor88 and 5 others Thank this. -
WOW!
Sounds like a real turd of a trainer!
Don't know if your religious or not but thank your God for getting you out of that situation.
I will hope and pray your next trainer is one worth having and gives you some good training.
This past week I have watched a few western drivers having issue backing in.
After talking with them they were all new and after offering helpful insights it became apparent they hadn't any real training outside thier initial school. Now I know why!
I personally have never slept while a trainiee drove and never will. Some of the stories I have heard lead me to believe this is common practice and rushing people threw also seems to be accepted by some bigger companies.LilRedRidingHood, snowlauncher, bryan21384 and 4 others Thank this. -

You just gotta have the right trainer.[/QUOTE]
Why do I have the sudden urge to ask for some training?bryan21384, LtlAnonymous, Another Canadian driver and 1 other person Thank this. -
I don't want to job hop. I know I need this for experience. It's not even about the money, just the way I was treated.
I appreciate your prayers. I got two chances to park a couple days ago after telling the trainer to let me practice, he was upset and trying to rush me cause I was taking my time making sure I didn't hit anything or anyone. He was actually surprised at how well I did. I'm not the worst but I really need practice.LilRedRidingHood, RangerMelB, nredfor88 and 8 others Thank this. -
I am not as concerned about the parking as I am about your on the road experiance. Problem is I only get to talk with people at truck stops and docks so I can't identify or help those victims of bad trainers out on the road.
Don't be afraid to start up conversation and ask for input from other drivers. Many are willing to give it if you ask.
Some like me will even breath a sigh of relief.
Good Luck going forwardLilRedRidingHood, bryan21384, LtlAnonymous and 2 others Thank this. -
It's rare to go through training anymore wondering if you didn't walk into another dimension when you closed the door to the truck.LilRedRidingHood, Czar_Zero, nredfor88 and 5 others Thank this.

It will be easier on your own in most ways. Your idiot (trainer) might have done you a favor. He made you do things like you are already solo. Like said above 1 year and things open up. Main thing during that year don't hit stuff and no violations. Best of luck you can do itLilRedRidingHood, JoeyJunk, bryan21384 and 6 others Thank this.

I've had a few good conversations at stops when I was away from the trainer. I keep it at the speed limit, give myself plenty of distance from whatever is in front of me, never get complacent with the situation. Can never have to much experience.LilRedRidingHood, RangerMelB, Constant Learner and 7 others Thank this.
