Look around when was the last time you saw a Wal-Mart tractor pulling a Wal-Mart trailer?

Go on the Wal-Mart threads on this forum. Wal-Mart them selves wants to disband there private fleet there is no reason for them to own operate maintain and keep up there own trucking outfit, when they can contract out to trucking companies. Wal-Mart pulls consumer grade dry van freight which is the most common thing in trucking, so for a cheap ruthless company like Wal-Mart it's easy get rid of the trucks, and the drivers and they just eliminated 2 major sources of expense for the company. It's all over the Wal-Mart board here on this forum and I constantly see Schneider, and the rest of them pulling Wal-Mart trailers heck the 3rd parties any more are the norm.

If they're high enuff volume, wouldn't it be cheaper to handle it in-house?

when the pay, benefits, purchasing or leasing of equipment factor into the overall cost of operations, hiring out is the cheaper way to go, and increase profits of the company, not to mention any lawsuits (tracey morgan as an example) from deadly crashes, it'll all be on the trucking company not wally world.

it's only a matter of time, they will go all mega carriers. more trucks/trailers all over the country, picking up freight and delivering.

that matter of time, might not be for about 5 to 10 years from now, but it will happen.

Yeah don't believe everything you read on the internet. Most of those guys do not work at walmart.

I just spent 6 weeks covering for one of you common carriers at an HVDC.

Fleet is trying to expand, but having trouble finding qualified drivers.

Except the outside carriers do not provide the flexibility and level of service private fleet does. But I do so enjoy the outside experts telling us what is going on where we work.

I was pulling Walmart trailers for Barr-Nunn out of Pottsville 15 years ago and everyone was saying that was the end of the fleet:rolleyes: Funny PF is still here and Barr-Nunn was sold.
