I considered their flatbed division to get into flatbed since bo other flatbed company will hire rn. but my big scare was the fact im hearing driver facing cams, no apu/opti idle, no idling abd you bake/freeze in the truck any of it true or just fake stories?Voodoo Pyg Thanks this.

I'm surprised that no one answered this one. A lot of the companies are putting inverters in the truck. As far as the APU, a lot of companies have them and prefer you use them. Some have idle limits on their trucks. Not all of them have driver facing cameras. You just have to do your company research.

in california, it's cal code reg. employers must education workers about heat illness, and also make efforts to prevent heat illness. so having trucks to prevent idling and thus risking drivers get heat illness would be illegal especially in the summer. also this regulation overrides the idle shutdown regs as those regs have exception for this written there.
but that is just cal code reg.
generally speaking the rest of usa should have similar stuff.
this however doesn't stop employers from attempting to save money on idle costs, and thus risking drivers health and safety from excessive heat. i seen first hand companies try it. one company actually misrepresented what the regs are, and told me they had to prevent the truck idle in california. and that's how i became educated on these regs. i had to go back to them with the truth. the company made accomodations, but used penske as 3rd party to enforce that rule as it was leased truck. so this made the whole debate murkier because 3rd party was interfering with obligations of the employer via penske. -
by any chance are you affiliated in any way with knight transportation or ever worked there?
because your signature on posts shows a knight and mentions voodoo. which reminds me of the time i worked for knight transportation. it felt like they was attempting voodoo on workers just by simply making it aweful place to work for.Voodoo Pyg Thanks this. -
Rode hard for 18 hrs. per day? Talk about miserable from the get go. Teaming a training truck w/a new driver?
Neither scenario should have happened no matter what anybody says. Horrible ideas/notions to say the least!Lonesome Thanks this. -
Wow,
that was quite a leap to reach that conclusion!

I have not now nor have I ever worked for Knight Transportation. The name comes from when I worked in state prison and the inmates called me "Voodoo" after the Godsmack song of the same name. The "Pyg" is an obvious pun as I was called a "pig" by women when I was being a gentleman towards them and I adopted it.
