it's your choice van or flat bed..they don't pay well, and are a no respect to the drivers type company..if you quit, they will scar your dac report, and that will black ball you from all the good companies you try and go with..

Yea it's your choice. Van or Flat. I'm actually doing dam good with the skateboard... The pay sucks yea, but gotta start somewhere.. And since i've been with them they have went and recoverd more trucks than i could keep count of. Nine times outta ten more and more companies will began to warn drivers of this little "i'll get you back move" by saying what the hell with this company i'ma let them come this truck under a load.. I think it's more than fair to place that on your DAC so another company can see how low this guy/gal really is torwards his self respect & his company. Because it just didnt go that certain way as you thought... But OP is an OP... Mines states decent company to get some flatbedding experience, nice equipment, decent running lanes that get you in weekly and through the week. (for me it's been just like i been postin it) SWEET DEAL ON MY END>>>>>:biggrin_25518:

crappy deal on your end...you'll learn soon...they do scar dac reports even when you don't do anything to deserve it...turn a truck in at the terminal and quit, they get pissed and scar it for no reason..they do have a high turnover...not good..if they were a good company and cared at all about their drivers they wouldnt have that high turnover...dont give 2 weeks notice in the qual comm or on the phone, they'll tell you to park it where your at and say they dont need you, to get out of their truck where you are at and hop on greyhound..your on your own..

    you'll learn

Western will jerk you around and make you scared stupid. Stay Away!I flew down to the Birmingham terminal after clarifying when I was going down there and what for with the recruiter. I called the recruiter from the airport like he told me to and he asked me what I was doing there. WTF? After being perfectly clear about my intentions to join the flatbed division and when I was to be there. Then they let me sit at the airport for 3 hours telling me repeatedly someone was coming and then finally told me to take a cab. The building was falling apart and it seemed like the employees were too. Then they dropped me off at the clinic for my physical. I was in an out in a half hour but had to wait for 3 more hours for someone to come and get me. After asking a series of drivers about the company and every response started with laughter and ended with a head shake. I decided to get the first flight home. Not worth the bs. Oh ya, I wasnt even there for 3 hours but my DAC report says I was a Driver. If that was true I want my paycheck!!!!

western is a garbage company with very poor dispatchers the trucks are mostly colombias and the drivers and dispatchers have an "i don't give a #### attu" please excuse the profanity, and they have completely ruined smx . i was at the birmingham al terminal and heard rumors that western had to sell smx equipment to license their garbage. i also heard a rumor that they were thinking about selling the dry vans side to u.s. express, i don't know how true or false that might be.

VERY TRUE, they have been laying off driver, dispatchers, shop workers, security guards, recuruiters, customer serv reps and planners. Mgrs had to take a 10% paycut and all other emplyees had to take 5% paycut. Things there are bad, their truck sales div made them money for years but without any buyers for their 2yr old trucks, and can't make a profit. I understand their owner has all his homes, condos and vacation properties on the market. They may need to see off their suites at the Sommet Center and LP-Titan field. That could have saved some of their people. I dipatcher had been there over 15yrs!
