Where can I find more info about pulling in western ohio. I might give it a go just for the fun of it. Is it possible to do this without tearing up your truck to bad?

I would say if you were to follow one of them away from a pull you would find they prolly have a truck and trailer real close, while the rules say it has to be driven in, it doesn't say how far.

While I will agree with PT, there does need to be some simple rules put in place to hold things down there are some things I don't really understand why they have rules on. Like the CDL rule that some places have, I could run a super semi down the track, but because I don't have a CDL I can't pull my street truck. Also I think the plate rules should be left well enough alone, what makes a federal IRP plate any different than a single state, or a farm plate, or even a historical tag.

In going on 7 years of pulling, I have had to replace two clutches in two different trucks and one transmission, it is all up to you on how hard you want to push your truck. Most of the pulls are passed along by word of mouth, and that is part of the reason for the low numbers.

Smokin Cat... you dont have your CDL and you pull street semi trucks? I have mine but i was just wondering how you can do that? Can you legally drive on the road without a CDL?

Well for starters the trucks I have been pulling for the last few years have been tagged as historical and they don't seem to care what you put down as the GVW when you tag them in, they were isted under the weight requirements for the CDL cutoff.

I don't drive a truck for a living and most likely never will, I haul for our family farm during harvest season and never go far enough away from home base to need one. That's most likely why my newest truck I'm working on will get a farm plate, it is not old enough for a historical tag, and I will just take my chances on the road.

This is the case with the Scott family out of Toledo and a few other trucks that come down out of Michigan once in a while.

The only reason I brought up the lic plate rule was that (no offense to you) many guys are running the farm plates with a truck that only pulls. You at least use your trucks for harvest and I applaude that. But there are a few (and the number is groing yearly) that have taken a step back from the pro stock semi class and are now running farm plates at the county pulls. Safety and fairness are my two big concerns with that issue. To be honest even a new plate rule probably wouldn't cure the problem.

As like Cody said, you won't tear up your truck unless you got your head up your butt. Any wheel hop and you have to get out of the throttle...plain and simple. I have been pulling almost as much as Cody and I have yet to break or replace a single part due to the stress of pulling. This next year will be different though as I have stepped up my game.

Another question for you more knowledgable guys... where are these guys getting the performance parts for their mechanical engines?, say the cummins K engines since those are of particular interest to me. are all the injectors, pumps, turbos, camshafts, and clutches one off parts or is somebody producing these on the market? What about the high end street trucks rotating assemblys? Id imagine the stock components can handle 1500-2000 hp?

I'm guessing many of the guys use Columbus Diesel in Columbus, OH and many of their own favorite machine shops. Since I don't run a mechanical, I have no true idea but that would be me first call if I decided to run one.
