    Hey folks,

Some of the guages in my truck have the backlights out or flickering. I opened the dash and the guages look like a sealed unit. Any ideas? Some of the needles don't move real smooth either.

The truck is a 2004 the guages have the domed lenses on them.

The backlights for the heater controls are out too.

Thanks in advance for the help!!

    Bill

    Hey Bill,

Your gauges are computer controlled if you look at the back behind the wiring of the dash panel you will see a silver box. That is what controls all your gauges and your flasher is also built into that. As for the smoothness of your gauges all of are stars with the computer controlled gauges move the same way, it almost looks like they have dead spots but thats just how they are.

For the lights in your gauges I'm pretty sure your correct about being a sealed unit. If I remember correctly one of our drivers wanted coloured dash lights and I went to put the bulbs in for him but couldn't find a way to get the gauge apart.

As for your heater control backlight there should be two tiny little lights that just turn and snap into the back of the heater control. The tab that the bulb is fixed into I believe should be blue and they are smaller then the end of your pinky finger.

    Hope this helps

I appreciate the help!! Thanks for the info.

I am getting used to the guage lights flickering. The worst one is the oil pressure, not too good!!

I hate to guess what they cost to replace.....

    Thanks again,
    Bill
