Ok, I added every thing up and came to a total of $235.00 including dinner in the evening's at school. Sense the next 4 day's after meeting trainer will be unpaid until that coming Friday I can still make it because I don't eat a whole lot anyway. So with food, permit fee, app fee for the permit plus Hazmat endorsment fee I rounded everything thing up to $250 until the first check as I can deal without cigarettes which I can't really afford anyway and I can deal with living on sandwich's. Anything to cut cost's and I'm not trying to sound like I'm a "cheap" person but I'm just doing what I have to to get into school until I get the first check. Anything after that is gravy providing the trainer isn't a nasty, mean ####### who push's you and use's you for your log book just to gain miles for his personal gain in pay like I've heard some do. If I stay on a strick on #### near not spend a thing budget at work or home then I can put the money back within about 3 week's give or take but as soon as I have it I will fill out the app. and tell them I am ready to go and when and if they approve send me a ticket and I'll be on my way.

I hate being so good with money. If I weren't I'd be living in a box now. :biggrin_2559:

Since it's been brought up, where do you get a DOT physical at? Do you have to go to some special DOT place, or can pretty much any doctor do it for you?

Well to me, like the place's I've been to and I'm not sure if the place is national or local here but a hospital called Willis Knighton has a brance called WorkKare, and es it's spelled with a K not a C and they do all the drug test, workmans comp claims etc. You should some place simular to it in your area but as I understand from SNI when you talk to them they will get your information and they will pick a place close by for you to go take it and it's paid by them upfront and it's assigned by them. Really what you have to do is call them or put your app. in. I'm waiting till I get the money up then I'll fill mine out. Good luck!

Thanks Baack. I know. I love my mom. My step dad, ehhhh he's been good to me but we have our diffences. I do feel bad that I said it and I've been working myself up to apoligizing but I just wish they would stop putting me down and stop worrying about the danger's of it and be happy with me wanting to do it. I mean my step dad did it and my mom didn't worry about him. That's the part that didn't make sense. My current boss say's "stay with momma as long as you can!" Well, it sound's nice and all but I am plenty independant and can do thing's on my own. I hate asking for help and I rarely do unless I am againest all odd's. I couldn't ask them for a little help now even if I needed to because they don't have the money and they won't support me for what I am trying to get into for a career. In which case it's with or without but I'm still going to do my damnedest because I'm determined without any doubt and I have never been determinded about something in my life as much as I am about driving. Blood doesn't flow through my vains. Diesel fuel does! :yes2557::biggrin_255:

OK, so I sent SNI an email explaining my problem that I've had with other companies and schools to see what they have to say about it and if it would be of any problem to them. I've been working for the same guy the last three year's but it's seasonal work and it seems many companies frown on this. :biggrin_2552:If you haven't been working the whole year then it apparently doesn't count to them. I dunno, we'll just have to wait and see what they say.:biggrin_2551:
I'm also wondering about the interview. It seems pretty toughfrom what I read. :biggrin_25524: I would rather do it by phone instead of traveling to see them because I want to know that I am pre-hired for a job before I leave anywhere because I don't want to waste money I don't have.:biggrin_25512:

"No ####!? Really? I didn't know that! Morons.":biggrin_2559: At least I'm keeping cool and not saying this to them. I filled out my app but if it goes through then I'm going to tell them they are going to have to wait because I still have to come up with the cash to live on and put in my two week notice.

I just hope it does. I'm really concerned about my work history holding me back. :biggrin_25521: I wonder if anyone else here has had this same problem?</I></I>

Usually you put in your application (I did this over the internet) then you wait for the call back. If it ever comes, usually it is the next business day or the day after. Many times you will not get a call though and usually this means for one reason or another they don't want you.

I keep track of SNI because I attended their school earlier this year. I've notied they are NOT hiring as many inexperienced drivers as before. I'm seeign a lto of people saying theyare nto hiring in their areas and I am seeing people in the classes stating that there are only a dozen or so students.... this is quite different than June when 30+ students was common. So don't be surprised if they never contact you. :(

If you do get called, they will set up a time for an over the phone interview (usually the next business day). Then you will get transferred to medical. After that you will be talking with them almost every day or every other day to get all the paperwork filled out and get set up for school.

If you want to wait to actually go it shouldn't be a problem. If I were you I would just come up with a daet that you an go and leave it at that. Try to keep professional about it. I wouldn't tell them that you need to save up money first (it may be seen negatively). Also if it helps they will usually pay for greyhound transportation but I'd try to make sure you have some spare cash in ase you need a taxi or for the ride home if you are sent home (usually they will pay but you never know). If you don;t have a cell phone get a calling ard or something. And patch up things with your folks man! You might need their support and not just financially either!

    I wish you luck!

    BigD,
Did you stay with SNI after you went to there school?
How was the cram course school and pre-requisites ?

my background says I need to find a new profession, the manufacturing industry is drying up here in Northeastern Oregon.

    Thanks,
